Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course "tasting menu" featuring such dishes as "Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle" and "Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Puree". In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore's extensive cellar includes over 2500 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low - mid price range. They have recently been awarded the "The Grand Wine Award 2014" by the Wine Spectator - one of only 70 restaurants worldwide to receive this accolade. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the "Top Ten" categories for "Best French Restaurants", "Best Ambiance" and "Special Occasion Restaurants" by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

We went for my birthday and were seated upstairs. As soon as we stepped through the door I just knew it was going to be special; it has a lovely atmosphere and the the service is excellent, attentive without being a nuisance, as for the food ............... simply fantastic and reasonably priced too. It has the largest wine list I have ever seen. We managed three courses and a liqueur coffee which is unheard of but it was all so nice I just had to try a dessert (not disappointed, the best chocolate fondant ever). I can't praise Clos Maggiore enough; we've eaten all over the world but this has got to be the best meal we have ever had; already working out when we can go again.

On a hot Saturday end of August the only table available was at 14 PM. All other guests were already well on their way to the dessert and when the waiter mentioned that the restaurant would close at 16 PM we feared to be "rushed" out.
But on the contrary, it turned out to be a welcome retreat from a busy and crowded shoppingafternoon in London.
Despite being slightly underdressed we got one of the best tables, under the flower 'skygarden' which is indeed a really romantic setting. We took the seazonal tasting menu which is absolutely good value for money. Every dish, from the roasted goose foie gras to the strawberry salad, was composed with the craftmanship of a great chef. No surprises, but very tasteful and just the right proportions. As a wine lover I was in doubt when overlooking the impressive wine list. However, the best choice was taking the suggested menu wines. The somelier, who enjoyed our conversation in his native French, is really on top of his game, schowing wide knowledge and interest in wines from all around the world. His red wine for the menu, a tannat from Urugay, was one of the surprises of the weekend.
The enthousiasme off the staff, the great food and the absolutely stunning setting made uw very happy to have discovered this lovely place for a delightful escape

We went for lunch for my boyfriend's Birthday we were lucky enough to be seated in the conservatory, although we wouldn't have minded being seated elsewhere. We thought the food was to a very high standard, the service was excellent and the price was very good for lunch. Overall we were very happy and if we lived closer would definitely be going back.

We visited as a family for mum's 80th.The food was divine, the atmosphere charming,3 generations were extremely satisfied. For the meals we received & the location of the venue I thought it was more than good value. The wine list surprised me with how reasonable it was compared to other top class dining establishments. Our only regret was that none of us managed a pudding,we'll have to go back to do that!

We surprised my mum here for her 50th birthday. She has a severe dairy and egg intolerance and is usually quite nervous about trying a new restaurant due to lots of bad experiences in the past where people have just added 'a little butter'. Any way the service here was EXCELLENT - made her feel totally safe and reassured that there would actually be no dairy. The chefs adapted her chosen dishes so she had a choice of pretty much the whole menu which was a first.

Food was delicious, staff were attentive, knowledgeable without being too imposing. Surroundings were lovely and we had a really really good time. fairly expensive but 100% worth it for an occasion. Was a really special night.
