Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course "tasting menu" featuring such dishes as "Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle" and "Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Puree". In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore's extensive cellar includes over 2500 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low - mid price range. They have recently been awarded the "The Grand Wine Award 2014" by the Wine Spectator - one of only 70 restaurants worldwide to receive this accolade. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the "Top Ten" categories for "Best French Restaurants", "Best Ambiance" and "Special Occasion Restaurants" by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

“Excellent is not high enough praise!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

When you are reputedly London's "most romantic restaurant" then you have to deliver on all counts, happily Clos Maggiore did. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left this truly was a five star experience. Expect to pay serious money, this is a quality restaurant, but every penny is worth it. The food is excellent, the service excellent and the ambience is magical and yes it truly is the most romantic restaurant in London and without a shadow of doubt one of its finest.

“Everything is just right”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

My title probably appears to be "damning with faint praise" but there is something about this restaurant which is simply "just right". We have been several times and each time it has been consistently excellent in every aspect. The food is fantastic, the service is attentive and the atmosphere is great. Everyone fights to get into the "conservatory" at the back but it really doesn't matter because it's the food and service that really set this restaurant apart from others.

“Great food - great service”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Beautiful surroundings and a great menu. Not cheap but this is a quality restaurant. The staff are amazing and clearly very proud of their restaurant. They explain everything carefully and are happy to help wherever they can. You must reserve as this is a popular place but certainly worth a visit for a treat!

“My favourite London Restaurant”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

I have eaten at this restaurant many times and it never disappoints. The food is delicious, the service very good and the setting exquisite. The restaurant is always a joy to sit down in and lifts the spirits. The food is rich and beautifully prepared. we particularly love the bread, which one has to be careful not to succumb to given the rest of the food. We never have pudding as the coffee and petit fours are very fine.

“Go for the tasting menu - it is an incredible experience”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

I went to Clos Maggiore earlier in the year and had a great time. We tried the tasting menu which was a series of courses each with a different glass of wine.

The staff were very knowledgeable and rightly took a great deal of pride in explaining the food and wine to you.

We sat in the back room, it seems like a small courtyard and has a very intimate feel to it with the mirrors being very well placed to make the room look quite spacious.

I have been onto the website since and they have changed the tasting experience to match the season so I am already planning my next trip.

The bill was quite expensive but I thought that it was well worth it for a special occasion - probably not the type of place where you would come back every month.
