We popped into the restaurant for an early lunch before some sightseeing and I'm very glad we did! We opted for main course and dessert so can't comment on starters. We were asked where we wanted to sit as the place was empty at 12.00 and decided to go downstairs which was a good plan as when we left an hour later the brasserie upstairs was heaving with business people grabbing their lunch. Downstairs the tables are set in booths which were very comfortable. I had salmon with hollandaise sauce, asparagus and sauté potatoes which was absolutely fantastic. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the hollandaise light and full of flavour. My husband had the fish cakes with salad and chips served with tartar sauce. Clearly the chef knows his sauces as this too was lovely. Dessert was toffee cheesecake - very smooth and delicious without being too sweet. The wine list is extensive and the staff were happy to supply a jug of tap water to accompany our glasses of wine. Service was very attentive and the lunch came to just over £60 including service which we thought was about right for a London restaurant.
