Best martini bar in London, where Ian Fleming invented the vesper martini. Amazing location and very hidden making it more fun to go to. Need to go back more often

“Keep it a secret!”

OMG Martinis to die for! Absolutely fantastic cocktails, service and ambience. Never had a drink like it before. Will definately visit again whenever we can. Lots more yet to try on the cocktail menu, including several more Martinis. Ignore the prices - they are worth it!

“Favourite bar in London!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2013

Loved the atmosphere and the cosiness. Some of the clientele are a bit snotty nosed, but the staff are attentive and discreetly good at service. Popular with after workers from the area and a lovely spot to relax.

“Bomb Your Brain”

Generally considered the best Martinis in London I would defy anyone to find a better one on Earth. A small elderly Italian arrives at your table with a ricketty wooden trolley. On it are: two martini glasses slaked with ice, a bottle of vodka or gin depending on your preference, a lemon, a potato peeler, and one of those vinegar bottles you get in chip shops. This has dry vermouth in it. The vermouth is dripped into the icy glass. One drip. This is swilled around. The glass is the filled with spirit so cold that I feel like scott of the Antarctic. Then the potato peeler pulls off a sliver of lemon peel. This is squeezed over the glass and dropped in. Thats it. I have been here twice. The first time my wife and I had three each and were speaking in tongues. The second time I went with my son and we had four. This earned us some considerable respect. The record is five but there was absolutely no chance of that. Many friends made that night, who were they?? Cant recommend this as an activity because of health and safety. But any serious drinker needs to attempt this. Very disappointed to hear there may be a limit now imposed!

“Best Martinis in the world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

We had a dinner reservation at 36 for 19:00 on a Saturday evening. We turned up an hour early and headed for the bar. All the tables were reserved but we were given a table and didn't have to wait round. We were served quite quickly. We ordered two martinis, a Vesper and a Classic. The drinks are mixed at your table and provide quite an entertaining show. The martinis were awesome - both of them, but the Vesper was divine. They pack quite a punch as they have a lot of alcohol. At about £17 to £18 per drink they are expensive, but worth every penny. Bar snacks were also good, especially the olives and the nut selection.

Dukes bar also have a covered area outside - with heating - were you can relax, enjoy full bar service and smoke a cigar. They also have a good selection of cigars in the bar. A great way to round off a wonderful dinner.
