Description: Named World’s Best Bar 2017 in World’s 50 Best Bars awards, and winner of World’s Best International Bar Team 2016 at Tales of the Cocktail awards, The Savoy’s American Bar is one of the most iconic bars in the world and the longest surviving ‘American Bar’ in London. In 1903 the first truly ‘famous’ bartender arrived at The American Bar, a lady named Ada ‘Coley’ Coleman, whose signature cocktail was the Hanky Panky, still a popular choice today. Ada’s successor was the inspirational Harry Craddock, who not only created a number of classic cocktails but who notoriously compiled these recipes into the legendary Savoy Cocktail book, still regarded today as the bartender’s bible. Following The Savoy’s restoration, the American Bar appointed its eleventh head bartender, Erik Lorincz. A world-renowned bartender himself, Erik was officially recognised as such in 2011 when he was awarded Best International Bartender at Tales of The Cocktail.

This is a great bar for a relaxing drink. Service is second to none. Love their extensive list of cocktails. In the evenings after 6pm they have a pianoist which adds to the atmosphere. Only down side is it gets very busy early evenings so sometimes there can be a bit of a wait for a table.

After a good luncheon party at The Savoy Grill seven of us managed to gently persuade our way into The American Bar after a twenty minute wait. (Normally requires booking). One round of drinks - several are regulars and insisted we experience. Live music (Pianist/singer) from 6pm. Good polite service. Thank you AG for letting us in this time.

We had cocktails here before dining in the savoy grill. The cocktails were very strong, tasted fabulous and were presented amazingly. The ambience in the bar is great, made by the piano player in my opinion. The staff are so friendly and always on hand to advise or help.

Great place and we will definitely be visiting again. There is some gorgeous photos of lots of famous people to look at whilst drinking.

We liked the atmosphere here and although expensive the cocktails were all well made.. Remember to tell the staff you are a Savoy resident as this helps get you seated when busy.
