We went to The Anglesea Arms for dinner and drinks on a Friday night. Had a lovely table in the restaurant, looked after by a fantastic waitress and the food was excellent (proper English food). We then moved into the bar area and continued our evening. Great atmosphere, great service and an overall fantastic night. Would recommend to everyone!!

Popped over here based on Rick Steve's review. We were pleased with the location (in a neighborhood, very quiet and classy!) and the beer! We were able to sit on the heated patio in early February and participate in people-watching (lots of people grabbing a pint after work). Great atmosphere!

Great to be ignored by bar staff and then have stuck up pretentious people push in front of you. If the bar staff could, having finally and reluctantly served you, get it right it might have been a little redeeming.

I visited The Anglesea Arms yesterday for a friends birthday lunch. The pub has a nice atmosphere and cosy dining area perfect for such an occasion.
Sadly the food was very substandard. I had the butternut squash soup which had the unmistakeable flavour of canned soup..and not much indicating it contained butternut squash.
I then ordered the sausages with garlic mash and kale. A small portion of mashed potatoes and two reheated sausages did not constitute this favourite on any good pubs menu and the watery gravy made for a very sorry looking and tasting dish.
I'd heard The AA's was on a par with the superb Bull & Last.. not even close. More like on a par with Wetherspoons and at twice the cost not somewhere I'd eat at again.

We decided to visit the Anglesea Arms to show our American friends who were visiting what a British Pub experience was really like. A subversion of the gloomy and grey confines of other central London establishments full of dreary patrons and the like, The Anglesea Arms is a cut above the rest.

Firstly what completely took me aback was the demographic of the Patrons visiting - I'd say the average age was early 30s, clean-cut, friendly looking bunch. The front open Porch has many benches to allow room for customers, and the outdoor heaters make even the darkest December nights bearable.

The ales on tap were admittedly those of which you would find in Pubs across the city - slightly overpriced but it's what is to be expected at one of the City's better Gastropubs.

The food was undeniably the greatest aspect of the evening. Despite the waiting time - 40 minutes for a starter to arrive - the food was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend the Goats Cheese, followed by the Fish and Chips and finished off with the Sticky Toffee Pudding! Our waiter was a charming and extremely friendly Italian fella who made the experience all the more wonderful for the party of us 4 Brits and 4 Americans.

Whilst the bill came in at a bit costly, the experience was totally worth it. For friendly vibes, a great atmosphere (complimented hands down by the amazing decor), friendly staff and a great overall experience - visit the Anglesea Arms.

I must also add in what shocked our party most of all. After leaving the Pub, about 20 minutes later our favourite Italian waiter called the phone which we made the booking with and informed us that someone in our party had left his wallet on the table. He informed us that it was waiting for us there for whatever convenient time we wanted to pick it up. In the days of high crime rates, low morals and values - this was what cemented my love for the place.

Thank you guys!
