If you are a lover of Indian food you will not be disappointed with the Gulshan. This award winning restaurant has undergone extensive refurbishment in recent times and the surroundings are both plush and comfortable. There is a separate bar upstairs, again very tastefully decorated, and you can order "Tapas-style" dishes to your table if you do not feel hungry enough for the main menu in the restaurant. The food at the Gulshan is Bangladeshi influenced, and the menu is extensive, all of our meals were cooked perfectly to our order, and the chicken dishes we had were prepared with fresh chicken and not the "rubbery-tasteless" frozen meat used in some restaurants. The staff are attentive, without being intrusive, and they are very polite and efficient. We didn't have to wait for drinks or to order our meals, and most importantly, we did not feel pressured to leave our table after we had finished our meals. The owner-head chef Mustapha is a joy to talk to, and he was happy to advise us on a very tasty selection from his menu.
The prices at the Gulshan are surprising, considering the surroundings and the quality of the food, and we expected to pay a lot more than we did. My tip would be to order from the set-menu selections. The set meals are excellent value, but beware that all courses served are big-portions and you will end up taking a doggy-bag home with you.
In all, we had an excellent night at the Gulshan. Good food, good atmosphere, and great prices. Booking is advisable at weekends as it gets very busy.

Ate there recently with a group of work collegues. Staff friendly and efficient, food was exceptional. Had booked a table so no wait although their is a bar area upstairs for a drink if no tables available. I had a tandoori trout starter and a green chicken balti with naan. Both were very good, especially the green balti.
In all a good experience, good food and good service. Well worth a visit especially if staying in the airport area.

Me and my partner were once saturday night regulars here for around 2 years but slowly this restaurant has lost its outsatnding food. It seems the emphasis is now on sending you upstairs to the lounge to order (and to buy drinks) then have your table set and then a waiter come and take you back downstairs to your table. It is the biggest money making con ever!!! The drinks here are way overpriced and it seems they feel they can get away with serving totally average overpriced and not made to order food by providing good customer service with the owner constanly wandering around the tables talking to guests. Once a great restaurant but has sadly lost it's touch!!

The Gulshan is one of LIverpool's best known, and most upmarket, Indian restaurants and I hadn't visited it for many years despite being resident in South Liverpool for all this time. It has certainly changed since I was last there - a cocktail lounge, of all things, being added upstairs. That said, the cocktails were very good indeed!

If you are paying out for a curry on the more expensive side you expect the flavours to match, and for the most part they did. However a number of the dining group felt the dishes lacked a certain something - especially as we had been for a balti in the balti triangle in brum a week before at half the cost... and perhaps twice the taste! That might be an exaggeration - the Gulshan won't let you down and won't produce a bad curry by any means, but is it worth the extra?

Used to get to the Gulshan quite a bit but hadn't been for a few months. The whole point of the Gulshan has been the food first and foremost.
We had the Talapia, lamb tikka chops and chicken tikka starters, Jalfrezi, sag gosht, and dopiaza mains with pilau and garlic naan, with aloo gobi side. Bottle of chilean sauvignon blanc and a cobra. All for £85
Everything was as it always has been, excellent. The place was busy but the service was great ,lads attentive and friendly, I probably have a soft spot for the Gulshan as we've always had a good night when there but the food was spot on
Read a few of the reviews before posting this. can't say I agree with a lot of them as i've ate indian food all over the country and almost always been happy with them, that said the Gulshan is as good as any of the best i've been to. Be back soon
