62 castle st , in need of a good clean and polish. no bar or restaraunt .although advertised. i have come away with bumped and bruised legs from the bed corners so be careful, i would only recommend this hotel under different management ,because they're running it into the ground. if you read a bad revue on this hotel, then it is likley to be true and if you read a good revue its likely to be about 12 months old , such a shame .i have wanted to stay there for a while, should have done it sooner . plus lots of sounds to keep you up most of the night,

Overall a good hotel - great location, superb size room (208), excellently kitted out, comfy bed, great stay.

The reason for not getting full marks? The showerhead was way too low (mouth level on a 6 footer!), the tv was on the blink, and the windows let in plenty of sound (but thankfully it was a quiet weekend and the room was on the back of the hotel). Oh and whilst the bathroom looked great I'd be interested to find out whether anybody has managed to fill a glass or the kettle from the sink tap - only just enough room to get my toothbrush under it!

For the price paid (sub £100 for one night) we were more than happy, but it may have been a different story if we'd paid much more....

we stayed bank holiday weekend and we loved the hotel, great location close to shopping, bars and the albert dock all a short walk.

big rooms, high ceilings, flat sceen tv, great bed. but the night porter deserves a special mention he was so helpful ordering us cabs(even getting a local firm because they charged less) giving all the help to finding places he was a star.

overall it was great value we paid £200 for a two night stay on a bank holiday weekend and are thinking of going again soon.

Used this place for the 2009 Grand National. Strange reception with a big desk for checking in. The notepads, phone books and general mess behind the desk was not a good look.

Girls very pleasant, and we were given room 208. Steps up to the room, then probably the biggest UK hotel room I have ever been in. Very high ceilings, and was a great room in general.

Plasma TV, iPod stand, hi fi. Great furniture, but one of those annoying beds with the 'shelf' that you bang your legs off all the time !!

Bathroom was excellent, spacious and with several free travel kits - spotless.

Free water, sweets and copy of GQ and Vogue along with usual tea/coffee.

Corridors dimly lit, but not a problem - lift clean and always in service.

Overall - a great stay, and we are considering for 2010 GN.

This hotel is in a great location in an impressive old building and the room we had was very spacious and well equipped. However, it did look as if they had given a lick of paint to some quite tatty walls and windows - one of the windows in our room was so rotten and warped that it didn't shut and they had nailed in in place. Luckily the room had very thick curtains so the draft and noise weren't a problem, but it was a surprise in a room costing over £100 a night. Another small frustration is that the (very trendy) taps had been fitted so low over the basin that it was very hard to use. The Elemis products in the bathroom were a nice touch, as were the biscuits and range of tea and coffee in the room. However, our main complaint is that we only found at check out that we'd been charged £7.50 each per day for breakfast. This wasn't explained or printed anywhere (the info we were given just mentioned the times that breakfast was served, and had no mention of price, so we assumed it was included). Breakfast wasn't special - it was better than some reviewers here experienced, but it wasn't £7.50 worth. We did mention this at check out and they said they were "reviewing the breakfast situation". I would have complained properly but the only staff at reception when we checked out were two young girls, one who had cleaned our room, so it didn't seem fair to give them a hard time. I think this is an impressive building and it could be a really fantastic hotel in the heart of Liverpool, but I think the management are cutting corners and as a result I don't think it's great value for money.

My husband and I stayed for one night at 62 Castle street. The location is great, really close to Liverpool 1 and the docks. Our room was very spacious and our first impression was good.

Usually I would expect details on the hotel like breakfast times or room service or even good places to visit or eat locally. There was no information in the room, and no restaurant available.

However, the room was very dusty and the furniture was becoming scratched and worn. The shower handle fell off in my hand and I couldn't even stand underneath the shower head as it was too low. The bathroom needed a good clean, when you pay £100+ per night I don't expect mould in the bathroom.

We had problems with our tv in the room but were offered discount on checkout for this.

As the location was so close to town, I should have expected noise from partygoers, but the the walls seem quite thin and we could easily hear the guests next door.

My husband and I were giving the hotel the benefit of the doubt up until breakfast time, as it is a beautiful building. But, breakfast was a few bits of bread, cheese and ham covered in clingwrap with no waitress to be see. I sat down at a table to find that the table was broken and my juice spilt narrowly missing my clothes ready for a christening. A waitress did appear and offered us coffee, which took 20mins and we had finished our breakfast already. We asked for napkins, as we were eating bread and ham, but we told there were none, so we resorted to going back to our room for a box of tissues. At this point things just seemed laugable.

I have never complained at checkout before, but did so and was offered a small discount. The hotel seems to be run by very few staff, I saw one young girl who was both the waitress and receptionist. The hotel would benefit from much better customer service as well as those finishing touches you would expect from a 'boutique' hotel.

The hotel did have potential to be fantastic, just like it seemed on the website but at the moment I wouldn't reccomend it.

We stayed for a birthday treat, one night, mid Feb 2009..On the plus side:...Fab room, spacious, and split level Great location, being central to all the main attractions.

Negatives: Staff not particularly friendly, bar and restaurant both closed and had been since beginning of Jan for refurbishment. Booked a couple of days before and there was no mention of this at booking or on the website.Didn't really have a 'hotel' feel, more like an apartment reception.Biggest disappointment was 'breakfast'. Breakfast consisted of a couple of bowls of fruit, some hard bread rolls and two slices of dried up chorizo! Coffee was undrinkable, and waiting staff consisted of one young girl who stayed in the kitchen( along the corridor) and out of sight! Was really unimpressed with the level of service (if you can call it that) in general and definately would not visit again. Have stayed in Premier Inns and been better looked after!
