Four of us from Ireland stayed in this hotel while in Liverpool from the 24/5/14 to 26/5/14 for their bank holiday weekend. Arrived at the hotel early in the morning and were not expecting the rooms to be ready, but we were very surprised and impressed when we arrived and everything was ready to go when we got there and we were able to put our bags in our rooms, while we went on for a tour of Anfield (which is only a short walk away) and after went into the city centre to Liverpool One which is the massive shopping district. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they will tell you all about the area and give directions. Four of us in our 20s looking to go out and experience the nightlife over there for the bank holiday weekend so we were shown where the best spot is for people of our age group and we were very impressed by it!!! The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and tidy, the breakfast every morning was brilliant. WiFi connection in the rooms also. Hotel location was very convenient for going out at night into the city centre, taxi is only £5. This hotel is fantastic and the staff make it, when we return to Liverpool we will definitely be staying in The Throstles Nest again.

I went to Liverpool in May for a weekend. Let start by saying the we really appreciated the staff, their friendliness and the helpfulness throughout our stay. The breakfast served is generous and good. Unfortunatly that is all that is positive about our stay. The hotel is more like a bed and breakfast than an hotel and not that nice either. Our room was right on top of a very noisy tavern. The room was so tiny that you could hardly move about. The bathroom was very old and in need of a complete remodel. You had to watch yourself since the toilet seat was cracked and it could easily pinch your buns. There was a slow wifi connection that did not work from your room although it was advertised as such. Considering that it is pricey and not located, I would not recommend it other than to the young crowd backpaking and not too concerned with comfort and conviniences

The place was warm, cozy and clean. Not posh and possibly not at appealing from the outside. The welcome on arrival was the best. Kevin the owner was keen to advise on all matters, tell you the history of the area. Where to go for nightlife of all kinds. How to get to the city on foot and always ready to arrange an inexpensive taxi, It would save you money to get a taxi if there was two of you. The owners knowledge of Liverpool made it, for me,a preferable option to a chain hotel staffed by outsiders with little knowledge of the area.

On booking we knew we were booking a room with out en-suite but after our first night we were upgraded free of charge to a bigger better room with a bath room. WiFi is free and throughout. Also, use of a computer is available for public use.

If you are looking to book via an internet site you should give the hotel a ring and ask for a price first.

I Would highly recommend this hotel if your tastes aren't too exclusive but it is not posh but definitely clean, warm and friendly.

Having just returned from Liverpool staying at the throstle nest hotel, first impression was not great to be fair but that was soon gone when we got inside,if your looking for a true reflection of Liverpool and how the real people of Liverpool are then you seriously need to book this hotel.
There is a bus stop almost outside @£2 to get to town or get a black cab for around £5, the black cab drivers are amazing so friendly you almost don't want to get out!
Breakfast was great 9 hungry welsh lads all starving not after we left tho, with excellent service to boot.
Rooms are clean and tidy with no complaints from any of the lads, showers are a little small but we all need to loose a few pounds!!.
Kevin, terry are brilliant at their respected jobs.now the bad news ( WE WILL BE BACK).

The hotel advertises "Minutes from city centre". Its 1.5 miles away.
"Best bed in Liverpool" .The beds are medium hard with no duvet. You can get a blanket if you ask..
"Best breakfast in Liverpool" Its nothing special.
Its my impression that very little has been done to modernize this hotel. The bathroom was very old and run down. The only positive comments about this hotel are the friendly staff, but I will never stay here again.

I would like to say that the World Museum in the City centre is LESS than a mile way and it is only 15 minute walk , 2 bus stops away, or £3.30 in a cab, hardly a mile and a half and you can see the centre from the hotel.
We do not have Duvets as we have Quilts and sheets in all the rooms and when you asked for blankets they were supplied to you immediately.
The hotel has won award for cleanliness and to say otherwise is untrue and unfair
We tell all our guests to phone reception if they need, or on the odd occasion are unhappy with anything and we will do our best to sort it for them.
We cannot help you if you don't tell us your concerns
Our Hotel is a grade 2 listed buiding it has no lifts ir air conditioning.
