Very upset

I really don’t know where to start but here we go.
Friday 20th September arrived at this hotel having prepaid for two nights. Greeted at reception and asked for my credit card. All fine. Then we were told that there were wedding parties on that night and the following day. Having turned up quite late on the Friday it seems we were given rooms not too far from the wedding party room and told we might hear some noise until the early hours. Then it all changed. We then asked to be moved away from the wedding as we had booked a nice quiet weekend but told as we were the last people to arrive we will have to take what we are given. We asked for a refund and was told NO MANAGEMENT HERE AND THAT IS NOT OUR POLICY.
What a crock. A very heated conversation then erupted between my wife and the counter staff. Having just travelled for 3 hours and at the end of a very busy week, all we wanted was a quiet bed to lay down in. How wrong we were.
We begrudgingly made our way to our rooms which were on separate floors immediately opposite the wedding party. Our autistic son was then starting to get agitated at the thought of the noise and low and behold it was noisy. I cannot blame the wedding party for this as they have every right and I wish them well. What I do blame is the hotel for not letting us know at the point we booked that this may happen. If they had we most certainly would have booked elsewhere. We got as close to the first room as we could by parting all the children who were sat in the corridor. Being autistic, our son is susceptible to noise and this was starting to make him ill. He had to sleep wearing ear protectors to try and drown out the noise. As for us sleeping. We just didn’t until it all stopped.

If anyone is interested I have added a few photos of what we were greeted with as we came down for breakfast along with beer cans and glasses laid around.

ELEGANCE. You would have thought that this beautiful Corinthian styled building deserved better and the staff have obviously no concern for anyone but the wedding party. It stinks.

This is genuinely the worst stay we have ever had in any hotel in this country and certainly not up to Hilton standards. Being honours members we have seen a lot and spend a lot of time in hotels. This is a disgrace to the brand.

This hotel has spoilt my quality time with my family by upsetting my wife and disrupting our sons wellbeing.

And this was exactly the same the second night.

Thank you Hilton for wasting our money and upsetting my family. If there were an award for the most uncaring hotel then this hotel wins hands down.

Dear Vanquishboss,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback of your recent stay with us over the weekend.
It is our intentions to ensure that all of our guests leave the hotel having had a great stay with us and I apologise that this hasn’t been this case on this occasion.

Over the weekend, our hotel was hosting 2 weddings, and we do always strive to ensure that none of our guests are disturbed. Unfortunately this isn’t always the case due to the location of our wedding facilities being close to some of our guest rooms.

Upon arrival all of our guests were informed of some potential noise from the weddings and were asked of their plans so we could best allocate rooms based on our guests needs.

Unfortunately with the time you arrived at the hotel we had very limited rooms available to check in to as the hotel was fully booked. I really do apologise that we were unable to provide you quiet enough rooms and that this impacted upon your stay.

Our reception team explained that unfortunately we could only allocate you in proximity to the wedding on the first night, however we did explain that we would find you 2 rooms to move to on the 2nd night so that you would not be disturbed.

On Saturday, my colleague informed you and your family that we had 2 highly upgraded rooms available which would be on the opposite side of the hotel so that you would not be disturbed. These rooms both came with complimentary access to our spa facilities, however when these were offered to you, you did refuse to accept these.

I will pass on your feedback to our front of house team to ensure our levels of service moving forward are up to our usual high standards.

Regarding your comments about our breakfast service and general cleanliness, I will pass your comments to our housekeeping team and restaurant manager to ensure that this is looked into and improved.

When you have paid £200 for one night you expect it to be no less than perfect. I was treated to thumping club music playing all night, a spa employee who wouldn’t even give me a pair of slippers and to whom I appeared to be a terrible inconvenience and a breakfast spent shivering due to air con blasting from every direction (this is at 8am on cool autumn day). My complains were received by the receptionist upon my departure and I was told they would be ‘passed on’ to guest relations. I am, of course, still waiting to hear from guest relations...

One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Every aspect of our stay was perfect. All the staff were excellent, rooms are of a very high standard and the breakfast was excellent. This will be our go to hotel for all future trips to Liverpool.

What an absolutely amazing day we had. We had an event in the Library Lounge and it was such a gorgeous venue! Special mention to John and all staff in the day! Nothing was too much trouble, they helped with every single aspect of the day and made sure everything ran smoothly!!! I cannot recommend this venue highly enough!

Great hotel in a really good location. Rooms slightly dated (tv slightly hanging off the wall) but a really comfortable bed and nice communal areas. We would stay again if visiting Liverpool. Staff were friendly and happy to help.

So last night we stayed at the Double Tree Hilton in Liverpool. From checking in and being lucky enough to meet Katerina we were looked after at every stage.
Every member of staff was friendly, helpful and simply easy to be around.
If you go, ask for room 621, such a quirky room, the bathroom is up a spiral staircase, the bed very comfortable, the room very quiet enabling one to relax completely.
At breakfast we were quickly seated, drinks served very quickly, the help yourself breakfast was fresh, cooked to perfection, tasty and as with everything else about this visit, set in a gorgeous and relaxing room where it was easy to see that other guests were as relaxed as we were.
Checkout was easy, they asked if we had enjoyed our stay. To put it quite simply, everyone there cared about us. This on top of a great room, comfortable sleep and great food means we will be staying here again.
