Owner description: A remarkable attraction in an unremarkable area of the city. Here is an extraordinary collection of tunnels and chambers commissioned by 19th century Victorian industrialist Joseph Williamson. His motivations for the work are still a mystery, but guided tours among what's thought to be just a small part of a much wider network offer plenty of insights.

this is a truly remarkable place run by remarkable people. If you enjoy local social history then this is a must. We loved every minute of the tour and the staff were excellent. This is a work in progress and needs all the financial help it can get. We cant believe the narrow minded criticism we have read on this site and would recommend supporting this great part of our heritage.

This is such an amazing place and should be government funded. all the people who work there are volunteers and have such a passion for the Williamson tunnels. it is kept open only by donations I think and yet so much more I think should be done to preserve, research and celebrate such history. My little family enjoyed our morning at The Williamson tunnels and our guide was such a lovely lady. if you like history you will love it.

Lots of information on how Liverpool worked in the 19th century. See how Williamson kept soldiers in work comoing back from the Napoleonic war.

Very exciting and informative. The guide was well informed and enthusiastic. Would visit again. Not for the claustrophobic!

After an enjoyable visit with a friend, I took family members. Everybody really enjoyed the experience. The guides tend to be volunteers who continue to excavate the tunnels. It's not a very sophisticaed experience, but is all the better for that.
