we called into this place last Sunday afternoon for St Patrick's Day the whole place was rockin
standing room only packed out to the doors so guess you have to arrive early, we tried to get to the bar but after waiting the best part of 30 minutes just to get a few pints of the black stuff we gave up? the people inside the place were all really friendly, one thing we did notice whilst trying to get to the bar the staff were serving the beer in plastic glasses and when it came to washing them ( guess they must have been a little short ) but they were dipping them into a bucket of water and standing them in a sort of bread tray to dry them and many of them were still really dirty, sorry once we saw this we decided to leave which was a great pity but given the time of year? we would give this place a second go if were in the area again but maybe not on St Patrick's day. cheers

Hi thrm,

Thank you for leaving a review of our friendly little Irish bar.

We're sorry you experienced bad service on St Patricks day, especially seeing as its the biggest day of our year. We see the day as a fantastic opportunity to entertain our regulars and meet a whole crowd of friendly new faces all looking for a bit Irish"craic".

Service inside can get slow on St Paddys day, and we would love to put more staff on to help reduce the waiting time. But as you'll have seen our bar simply can't fit any more bodies behind it. To help relieve this, we do have a large pop up bar named "Shenanigans Eile" which lives in the car park out towards the back of the pub. You'll find this bar has its own quirky and unique characteristics, and we love putting it up for such huge days. And don't fear, it has fully functioning beer taps, that of course sell the black stuff everyone craves on St Patricks day.

We encourage all customers to visit both the pub, and our 'Eile', so again we're sorry you missed out on both experiences. Because of this, however, there can be no glasses on the day as Liverpool City Council do not allow glass to be taken onto the street outside, or in the car park. We try to compensate as best we can by offering poly carbonated (toughened) plastic glasses, but we understand its not ideal, unfortunately our hands are tied in the matter.

The 'bread tray' is actually a glass tray that comes with our glass washer, it's very common but we can understand it being an unfamiliar sight to see. The plastic glasses were emptied into the sink and stayed there until they were ran through our glass washer, then left in trays to dry before going on shelves to be used once again. Unfortunately due to the amount of people we were serving, dirty plastic glasses tended to be left around the sink area for longer periods of time, so I completely understand and apologise for the misleading sight. But we don't want to deliver anything less then perfect quality, so we had thousands of fresh unused plastic glasses ready to go throughout the day (another reason why we let the dirty ones stack up -again we're sorry).

We try our upmost to ensure that our service and standards are the same if we have one customer in the bar or one hundred, so once again I apologise for your experience and I sincerely hope you give Shenanigans another chance we would love to see you here and we know you won't regret it.
