Friendly service - personalised email reply to my booking request, helpful when I wanted to increase the table size, pleasant and humorous waitress. Food was hot, well plated, tasty. Menu is 'homely' in that it encompasses tea for a prawn cocktail with a twits- lime sorbet, roast chicken and pineapple upside down cake.
Overall price for three courses and drinks was less than £25 per head so very reasonable.

Ate here with 2 friends on 20/12/12 for dinner having previously visited this place many years ago when it was Heathcotes. Nice atmosphere, place was busy with efficient & friendly service throughout the evening.

Food - we ate from the al la carte menu and would describe the food as 'rustic classics - I opted for the 'Hash' as a starter followed by a fantastic 'burger & home cooked chips' which was excellent. I'm a real ale fan and was delighted that they had an IPA on draught which was also excellent & well served.

Prices were very reasonable for a city centre restaurant.

I managed to 'lose' my cashmere scalf during the evening visiting several bars and after retracing my steps the following day was delighted when I enquired at Home Canteen who very honestly had located my scarf and reunited me with it the following afternoon. Much appreciated - thank you!

I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to friends and will be eating there again in the not to distant future.

We visited Home on a quiet Sunday night, hoping for some serious comfort food. We were not disappointed - roast pork and beef hash were delicious and huge portion sizes. The puddings were excellent too. Throughout the service was really great and friendly. Would highly recommend!

Great start to the New Year, a new Restaurant to us. Heathcotes could never be described as cosy or warm, this latest venture by the very safe pair of hands that already manage one of the best restaurants in town is certainly warming and very welcoming.
Food very homely and varied with a good vegetarian option available. Good wine selection well priced, but try the English sparkling wine easily as good as its French imitator.
Food was very well cooked and presented the crackling on the pork was great.
Service is good and very friendly, all in all a very nice place in an area of Town that has been left behind a little bit by Hope Street.
In short great.
