“Worth seeking out”

Close to the centre but in a quiet back street location it is a very nice, modern Italian which we came across by chance after wandering around the Ropewalks area. Great portions of pasta, friendly staff and owner, great service. Reasonable prices as well

“Excellent Italian nicely tucked away”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

We dined here after reading reviews on TA and were not disappointed. The restaurant is tucked nicely away but only minutes walk from the centre. We ate at around 6pm and found the restaurant quite busy, lots of character with a very nice atmosphere despite it being quite early.
The service was very good, the staff very friendly & polite. The food was excellent and we left very satisfied.
Definitely worth giving the bigger brands a miss and we would come back here without hesitation!

“Nice Italian meal”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Had a lovely meal on Sunday at Amalia. The mozzarella starter was delicious and so were the garlic mushrooms. The waitress Emily was also fab! She gave us impeccable service with a bit of fun thrown in.

“A great surprise”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

In shopping with our family on Saturday and couldn't get near the bigger restaurants in the city centre so decided to give Amalia a try based based on word of mouth and Trip Advisor. What a fantastic surprise. The food was really excellent (and I'm Italian), particularly the pizzas and pasta. Service was good with a nice atmosphere. Give this place a go - its always tempting to use the big city centre chains but small independent restaurants are what give a place character, and we'll definitely be back.

“A great surprise”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

After finishing a bit of shopping I decided to check trip advisor for somewhere to eat. This was a highly rated Italian nearby so we headed to check the menu. First impressions were amazing; a lovely, clean and authentic restaurant that has bundles of character. The food was equally impressive. We ordered a starter and a main and everything surpassed what we expected for the price. What topped it all off was the atmosphere created by who we assumed was the owner. When a small group of people ordered the 'calzone challenge,' he made a big fuss and enthused the whole restaurant in to clapping and encouraging the calzone challengers (who all failed by the way). I've never felt so welcomed in a restaurant before. I'd recommend anyone for this restaurant, but hope that it doesn't get too busy so we can't get a seat next time we want to go.
