“Just what you need for a weekend in Liverpool!”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

Basic rooms, very clean and contain all the basic amenities. Situated in a nice locations overlooking the docks. Not far away from the city centre - around 10 mins walking distance. It was quite expensive for 1 night for a Liverpool match day (September 2012), which is understandable in way.

Cheap clean central hotel. Don't have the breakfast though worst I've ever had anywhere! Also do not arrive before 2 we were 5 mins early but told abruptly to wait in the lounge until time, then asked if I was shure we were at the right hotel! I'd had even given her the booking receipt. Budget chain or not her customer skills need reviewing.

Please be aware that you cannot leave your luggage at this hotel if you arrive early. This was a bit inconvenient for us and we were slightly concerned to be told by the receptionist that the hotel 'isnt secure enough' to have a luggage room (?!)

Room was spotlessly clean, light and modern with a king size comfy bed. Bathroom was plastic but again spotless although a little soap to wash hands with would have been nice.

Breakfast buffet was ok for the money - no fresh fruit but choice of cereals also croissants and a big toaster. The hot selection was limited to bacon, sausage, beans, tomatoes and scrambled eggs; there seemed to be a shortage of staff as the receptionist was running around to replenish hot food. There were no eggs for ages but she kept topping up the bacon etc which were already half full.

Minor points to be fair this is a Travelodge so I wasn't expecting too much. But its clean and modern and in a great location

Great travelodge, great position overlooking Albert Dock and lovely staff. What a bargain, we couldn't ask for more. The batman/night receptionist was especially friendly as we're housekeeping who always had a cheery word for us.

Room Tip: Ask to look over Albert Dock

First time in this particular Travelodge, and is the best out of the other one's i stayed in.The location is perfect, situated beside the Albert Docks, which has plenty of bars and restaurants, and just a few minutes walk to Liverpool One. We arrived Sunday morning and the girl was lovely and friendly that checked us in.We were up on the 9th floor, with lovely views of the Docks. The room is basic, but does the job lovely. The only criticism i'd have, which is similar to another reviewer was that there was a large wet patch on the carpet, not very nice to step in with bare feet.Apart from the one little blip,i'd definitely stay here again and recommend it,for the price alone, and the lovely area, its a bargain.

Room Tip: Get a floor as high up as you can to see the stunning views.

As Travelodges go, this is at the upper end of the chain's offerings. It is clean and modern in its feel (it's new). The staff are excellent - friendly and helpful and with a fine sense of humour. There were problems with the food on the first night due to the fact that there had not been a delivery - not the staff's fault, therefore - but this left a very limited menu, However the breakfast was fine and - hallelujah! - they have someone who can cook scrambled eggs correctly. For location it is excellent within easy walking distance of Liverpool One and Albert Dock. It is about a 2 minute walk from James Street Station and a 15 minute walk from Lime Street.

The plus bits first: The location is good being on the waterfront with river and Albert Dock views. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and there is a late check out time at 12 noon
The not-so-plus bits: The rooms are tiny with no cupboards and drawers (you get 1 small shelf) and 1 small chair between 2 people. The windows are small and at chin height. Waterfront views will give you background traffic noise but at night this is not a problem. The biggest issue is the micro tiny plastic cubicle shower room. Its impossible to squeeze up to the mirror between the WC and sink basin and it really is a plastic walk in box. Late check in after 3pm can be a bind unless you pay a £10 add on fee + no free WiFi in rooms (you have to go to the lounge).
This hotel (I guess all new Travelodges follow the same pattern) is OK if you are fortunate enough to be paying their budget offer prices (we had 4 days at £35 per double room per night) no complaints about the price to negative ratio ..... but not worth paying their full room rates .....because at £70 plus you can get much bigger and better in Liverpool. A great stay in Liverpool was had by all.
