The Liver Building is world famous of course, the most prominent symbol of the city of Liverpool. But what we did NOT know is that the four clock faces on it's towers are actually larger than those of Big Ben in London!!! yes, really! The other two buildings along the front make up what are called the Three Graces, and it's easy to see why they're so renowned. Unfortunately, a lot of the rest of the frontage is taken up with new buildings and towers which are all very brash and modernist in design, and, with the exception of the new Museum Of Liverpool which we visited, look rather out of place.
We also had to dodge loads of kids on skateboards as well whilst heading towards the Pier Head to do the second part of the Beatles Story museum which we did earlier in the day... but it was all worth it, because how often did we get the chance to spend three days doing some of the city's best known sights and attractions without having our kids in tow slowing us down?!?!
