We attended a wedding here and the venue was perfect - the staff incredibly friendly and professional, the grounds beautiful and the main hall absolutely ideal for an intimate and personal wedding.

Speke gardens are a gem. It is nice to go for a walk and then have a pot of teas and a homemade cake. The staff are brilliant. I could have spent the whole day walking and then going back for more food.

Speke Hall is a Tudor manor house circa 1600 which has been extended and updated over the years and thus has many styles of architecture and décor from the last 400 years up-to Victorian times. Staff (mostly volunteers) are very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. If arriving by car the large flat car park is only a few hundred yards walk away from the house entrance and the path is level. We spent half an hour walking around the well maintained grounds to the front of the house before going inside. Upon entering the house you first go into the inner courtyard then walk around the house finishing in the kitchen/dairy production area. We spent approx 2 hours inside and could probably go back again for another look around. To the rear of the house there are more formal gardens. Outside of the main house there are a number of converted barns where there was a café, shop, plant nursery and clean modern toilets. Large outdoor children’s adventure type play area with a maze and picnic tables overlooking the river. We visited Friday 16th October 2012.

Really good family friendly night ,from 10yrs , Zombies roaming the grounds and graveyard ,then you have timed entry to the hall this was our favorite part. You have to remember this is not Farmaggedon ! its a family event so quite tame so older teenagers might not be impressed. We will be going back next year ,if your planning to go book early all nights sold out this year.

Located to the south of the city centre, Speke Hall is a National Trust property. We visited earlier in the year when open and were very impressed - a grade one property that remains true to its roots. If you are visiting Liverpool, staying nearby or passing through Liverpool Airport, a visit is well worth considering.
