Visited this beautiful building with a group of pensioner friends. Just phoned a few days before to arrange it. Most of us had very little knowledge of the Jewish religion and had never set foot inside a synagogue before. The guide gave us the history of the synagogue and a really good outline of what being a member of the religion involves. Strongly recommended!

Near to the Synagogue is a statue in tribute to Florence Nightingale, it was good to see it such good condition. There are many interesting historic buildings and statues in this area. Obviously one of the best is the Synagogue, unfortunately it was closed on the day we visited so we could only look from the outside. It was still stunning.

Wonderful guided tour of the history of Jewish arrival in Liverpool as well as fascinating tour of this breathtakingly beautiful synagogue dating back to the 1870´s. Remains a functioning synagogue. Very knowledgeable guides explain everything. Attached annex contains artefacts , photos . A modest 5 pound fee goes toward the upkeep of this jewel. Booking ahead is a must.

Paid £5 for a full guided tour and worth every penny. The place has the wow factor. Friendly staff, gift shop and facilities. No on site parking, but roadside parking.
Well worth a visit, so please go for it.

Today, the Jewish community welcomed the Lord Mayor and other civic dignitaries and people of every faith to this most spectacular venue. The rather plain, red brick exterior, partly covered by metal sheeting, due to ongoing repairs, gives few clues to the beauty of what lies within. The baroque splendour really is something to behold and a guided tour gives a fascinating insight into the Jewish faith and the history of this proud community. Booking essential.
