“Most expensive pint bought”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

We went as part of our Works Christmas night out. If your idea of a brewery tour is walking around a dark, deserted empty warehouse, this may be for you. We walked up and down about a thousand steps, not to encounter any part or process of beer being processed. The tour guide was the only redeeming feature of a night that was totally wasted, his knowledge and facts about brewing were quite interesting. You do indeed receive a free drink at the end of the tour, but you would be better advised to keep your 8 pound in your pocket, and spend it in the pub next door.

“great brewery tour”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

had a great tour, guide was informative and quite funny at times, also very helpful. good pint at the end. really enjoyed visit. only problem would be, there are quite a lot of steps to climb and no lift. its a really old building with character. well worth the fee.

“Do this tour!”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

The intimate nature of the tour makes you feel like you are seeing a behind the scenes glimpse not only into the past and how brewing was in the old days but also how the business has evolved - I would describe it as Charlie and The Chocolate Factory tour for grown up's! The tour guide was essentially the crucial element of its success as he really helps build the past and present picture while educating upon the brewing process in a way that was easy to understand.

There are stairs and it is not a quick in and out generic tour. From the city center the best way to get there would be to take a cab rather than walk in some of the streets around the area as it can be dark and a bit isolated.

The highlight for me was the start and ending point of the tour in The Tap - a brilliant pub were not only do you get to sample the beer at its best but even better, get to meet some real life Liverpool characters that are locals to the pub. As a scouser born and bread who now lives in Chicago USA, I realized this tour is something not only locals should do but every visitor to Liverpool if they want to experience a real slice of Liverpool history and its people.

“Dont bother”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

As already stated by others - the tour guide does his best under the circumstances - how it can be 23 out of 33 amazes me - should be in the 30s - although we had a walkthough the brewing process from start to end- but nothing was running on our tour - so really £8 for a walk around a building a talk and a pint - no buffet - wonder whether the brothers ( owners ) realise whats going on.
