Owner description: Walker Art Gallery is a beautiful building housing a stunning collection of art. The galleries hold paintings from the 13th century to the present day: you can see work by Rembrandt, Hockney, Holbein, Turner, Lowry, Rossetti, Millais and Freud to name but a few.We also have a sculpture gallery, a craft and design gallery, and Big Art for Little Artists - a gallery specially designed for children up to 8 years of age.

I love the Walker Art Gallery in many ways. It's free for a start. That's great. I love the sculpture gallery. You can wander round and get up close to study beautiful human figures engaged in various activities (such as reading or walking blindly). If you did that to real live human beings you'd probably pretty soon get assaulted or arrested. I am particularly fond of the gallery directly above which displays 'Blackberry Picking' by Elizabeth Forbes. The foreground to this picture is wonderful and the landscape background is even better. I am also intrigued by the Paul Nash painting. I shall go back to study this further. I don't like the cafe there though. I thought the food and coffee was expensive (and not that good) and (worst of all) the lady who served me seemed expressionless and unfriendly.

What's not to like, fabulous building with wonderful collection, great little cafe too. Art across the ages and genres, personal favourite is the 'loophonium' Surrealism at its wittiest

This is one of my favourite art galleries I never tire of it. I particularly love the pre-Raphaelite paintings. There is also a lovely cafe on the ground floor, reasonably priced, and a small gift shop. It's well worth a visit.

Great selection of art I particularly enjoyed seeing the Victoria and Pre-Raphaelite pieces and some of the medieval painting are very thought inspiring . The Gallery is Free of charge but a donation is well worth making.
