The galleries hold paintings from the 13th century to the present day: you can see work by Rembrandt, Hockney, Holbein, Turner, Lowry, Rossetti, Millais and Freud to name but a few.We also have a sculpture gallery, a craft and design gallery, and Big Art for Little Artists - a gallery specially designed for children up to 8 years of age.

Overall a great experience. Go for all the art, which is displayed chronologically from the past 400+ years for the most part. But go especially for the art associated with the John Moores Prize, the top art competition in the UK, held every 2 years. The Walker displays all the winners of the John Moores competition, and the art is both enjoyable and interesting itself as well as a chronical of the development of modern art trends over the past 50 years. The Walker is free, which obviously makes out a great value, with a suggested donation of 3 pounds. There is also a nice cafe in the lobby.

Great place to get a delightful lunch in amazing surroundings. Bistro on the ground floor of the gallery, so a great way to rest the legs when you are all 'cultured out'!
