Owner description: A 15-minute walk from its Anglican counterpart along Hope Street, 1960s' "futurism" best describes the exterior of what's locally know as "Paddy's Wigwam." The huge interiors illuminated by natural light through the exquisite stained glass is worth the journey itself.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Liverpool is of a spectacular design (similar to a wigwam). Once seen never forgotten. Climbing the numerous steps is well worth the effort. The interior is amazing with a wonderful round stained glass ceiling which, on a sunny day, sends colours cascading into the cathedral. This is well worth visting. No entrance fee but a donation is welcome.

For modern architecture, this is impressive, especially it is nothing like the original plans ( see a model of the original in the Liverpool museum). Didn't know it had had so many problems after building. Go round clockwise then you get the stations of the cross in the right order! an explanatory booklet would have been helpful.

I love it. The modern architecture makes me laugh. The gorgeous interior brings me close to tears of joy. The circular nave induces such a sense of peace, while the central altar brings a feeling of inclusiveness and common purpose. But most of all, the beautiful glass floods the place with intense blue light - perhaps if I were religious I would describe it as celestial, but I'm not so I can only describe it as joyful and inclusive. Could there be a better location than Hope Street?

Now I am not a fan of modern buildings, but this building certainly does have the Wow factor! Certainly the most impressive modern Catholic building I have ever seen. Apart from the actual building itself what made it for us was the superb stained glass with its use of light to high light the glass. Glad we went. Note: The also impressive Anglican Cathedral is a 10 minute walk away. You can also park right under the cathedral which was very handy. (Pay & display)

A beautiful and peaceful building with colour and modernity. This is a 'must see', whether you have religious views or not. I am not a Catholic but was quite moved by it all.
