I booked to stay here with my sister and our friend as it was the only affordable hotel with a triple room that I could find. We arrived by train at Liverpool Lime Street station and found the hotel quickly and easily.

Our room was on the 3rd floor, we had a twin room with an adjoining door leading to another room with a single bed. We had one bathroom to share and this suited us well as normally hotels have twin rooms with a pull out/camp bed and so this arrangement was the best we have come across.

Our deal included continental breakfast which was basic but adequate. Fruit, yoghurts, croissants, brioche and cereals were included along with bread that you could toast yourself. Tea and coffee were also available.

People with mobility issues may have a problem with this hotel as the corridors are very narrow and with lots of stairs but apparently there is a lift which was out of action during our stay.

However, I would stay here again again if the 3 of us ever decided to return to Liverpool as our room was ideal for what we needed. The hotel is also perfectly located - close to the train station and close to the city shops and nightlife.

Can't really complain for the money! Was abit scared from reading other reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. My room was a good size with a big TV on the wall and bathroom was great! The staff couldn't be more helpful. Is great for staying if you want somewhere affordable and your not looking for anything too posh!

The Lord Nelson isn't new or modern and if you like to stay in "posh" hotels, don't go there!
However, it is in a great location right next to Lime Street station and near to lots of attractions and shopping.
The room was spacious, light and clean, the bed was comfortable, nice bathroom with big shower and there was free wifi.
The bar area was quite modern and nicely decorated, with comfortable settees and armchairs and a big TV to watch sport (or anything else).
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was more continental than full English (the only hot food available was toast, which you do yourself on a rotary toaster), but there was a huge choice of croissants, cheese, meat, jam, yoghurt, cereals and fruit, as well as juices and unlimited tea and coffee.
I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again. Great location and great price.

If you've nowhere to stay or you don't mind staying in a tired, desperately in need of a makeover 'hotel' this is perfect for you. If you wanna break up with your partner - this is where to take em or perfect for a 1 hour stand !!

£75 for this?? Wow - that's desperate.

The lifts are something out a horror movie - use the stairs. Better still - pitch up a tent somewhere!! Do a Bear Grills and go on an adventure.

I have just returned from a business trip to Liverpool and stayed at this hotel. The hotel itself is a bit tired, fraying carpets and decoration in need of refreshing. The room I stayed in was particularly claustrophobic (Room 101) as it was at the end of a long narrow corridor and the room itself had obscured glass windows. The room was very neat and tidy and more importantly clean. However, the design could be improved, there was no plug near a mirror, the large TV was so close to the bed it made it difficult to view.

Staff were great, nothing too much trouble and always very pleasant.

Room Tip: If you are booking a single room I would avoid Room 101

For a short stay this hotel is ideal. The situation is excellent - very close to Lime Street Station, next door to the O2 Academy and a few yards away from the Stage Door of the Empire Theatre and the famous Ma Egerton's Pub. Come out of Lime Street and turn right immediately before the Empire Theatre. The Stage Door and Ma Egerton's are on the left. Walk up past the waiting taxis and you will see the hotel over the road on the left.
The hotel is clean and unpretentious. I paid thirty two pounds for a twin bedded room. There was a kettle with tea, coffee and milk etc. Also soap and shower gel.
The Staff are friendly and helpful. I had forgotten my toothpaste and was able to buy some from Reception. (At an excellent price I have to say)
There is a small bar available at night.
Breakfast is fine - fruit juice, fresh fruit, croissants, toast etc, cereals, ham, cheese and yoghurts. Plus of course, Tea and coffee served by a pleasant waitress. Absolutely fine.
I liked this place and as I visit Liverpool regularly I am literally just about to book again.

Room Tip: I suggest you ask for a room away from the side containing the main door. There is building work goi...

Very near the Lime Street station. And even next door to an O2 Academy--perfect choice if you're going for a live show. Also good for shopping and all sorts of city things.
But the wall between rooms are not very thick.
All the downsides of a busy location as well.
The bar downstairs doesn't have many choices and can only take cash only.
