“Good Value, Good Location, Good Staff!”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Having just spent 2 nights at the Lord Nelson I have no hesitation in recommending it. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street Station, so is easy fo anyone new to the city to find. I had booked a single room, but was pleased to find I had been upgraded to a double room. The facilities at this hotel were excellent; on the ground floor you have a large bar, coffee shop and internet terminals, as well as free wifi throughot the rest of the hotel. The bedrooms were simple, but nicely furnished with 50 inch plasma TVs. More important than all of this, the place is spotlessly clean. As with any hotel, you can find fault if you look for it, but the Lord Nelson provides excellent value for money. Staff were friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and really enjoyed our time there. The staff were fantastic. Normally i am not a fan of the continental breakfast but i enjoyed the breakfast here. All the staff were a great help very attentive. The hotel is in a great location, right behind Lime Street Railway Station but we never heard a train. a+.Bus stops very close by as well. Short walk to the shopping area, Bars , and Restaraunts.

My stay wasn't too bad apart from when I went to bed I found that the duvet had stains all over it. I had no option but to sleep on top of the bed. Due to the time I found this (around midnight) and the fact that I was on my own (I had been hassled by somebody from the bar on my way to my room when I came back around half 11) and that I was pushed for time in the morning I reported the issue when I returned home, with photos. My complaint hasn't been taken seriously! I was blamed for making the stains as the cleaner "would not lie", told I should have come back down to reception and also advised that due to the photos (taken on my phone) having no date and time on them they are not enough proof. I didn't make the most of the breakfast as I did not have time to eat in the morning, so cannot comment on that. Location was good for a city break, near to the train and coach station. The price was reasonable.

A group of myself and 3 girlfriends went for an overnight stay, location brilliant, certain staff very helpful, we got stuck in lift, different staff on and very unhelpful, no help with luggage up to 2nd floor or apology, could do with mirrors next to plug sockets, table, chair, really just little improvements for when getting ready, i.e the socket for hairdryer was at one end and mirror at the other ,okay for what we wanted breakfast basic, but ideal for leaving luggage after check out whilst finishing shopping, lift ancient and noisy, but again certain staff very helpful and friendly and would stay here again, very clean, loved Liverpool and would hope to visit again. We were asked for photo I.D on arrival, we weren't aware we needed any and didn't have any with us, but they did want to photocopy it, which I wasn't comfortable with happening anyway, but they were fine when we told them we didn't bring any photo I.D,

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the lift.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are disappointed to hear you just stuck in our lift, to clarify the lift is brand new and we were having some teething troubles with it, which have since been dealt with. We hope this doesn't deter you from staying again and hope to see you again sometime soon.

Best Regards

All the staff were tremendous, so friendly, so helpful and some, so funny! I wasn't too well one morning and they accommodated me with no trouble. The room was great, clean tidy and everything worked fine. The staff were really great, the night guy was a character and helpful and made my American friends laugh and the young girl on reception fixed my phone, got directions for me and as i say just such friendly people in a friendly city.
Its only 15 minutes from the Docks, walking and theres a great car park next door thats great value too.

Planning my weekend away, I noticed all the hotel rates had shot up for the festival and bank holiday. I took a chance and rang them asking for a deal and they lady rang me back with a rate half of what was online!

The hotel is in an excellent location. Go out the back entrance of Lime Street station and its to the right, up a small hill. Walking time about two minutes.

We arrived about 10am Saturday morning off a flight from Dublin and tried to check in. Reception apologised but as it was full the night before, there were no rooms cleaned yet. We left our bags in their left luggage room and went and hit the town.

When we came back we were given a room at the front of the building facing the street. It had all the expected facilities, big tv, tea and coffee facilities and en-suite with a nice clean refurbished bathroom. There was no closet, just a rail hanging, but it did the job for what we needed. The windows were old style wooden ones that opened vertically and had to be propped up with a coke bottle as there was no aircon.

The hotel seems to have been done up but its not quite finished yet. Corridors were clean and refurbished, same with our room, but little things still needed attention. The lift doors look like a goods lift but inside, it is quite ok. The bar is small but does the job, but again, attention to detail would be good. There is a cd/radio player on the counter with a cash converters label on it. It just cheapens the impression you get.

The O2 academy is next door but was closed that weekend. We heard very little outside noise except for one instance where somebody drove a street sweeper outside our (open) window. It was like a jumbo jet taking off!. Bed was nice and comfortable and no complaints about the room.

Breakfast was sparse and pretty poor. Its definately something that needs to be invested in. Toast, cereals, prepacked croissants, yogurts, fruit, and two types of cheese. One of them was a dairylea triangle type cheese.

As hotels go, this one is improving and I would stay there again. The staff were very friendly, its location is excellent, and its comfortable. Its not posh, but then, I was not paying big money.

I would recommend it to my friends but with a mention of the above.

My fiance and I stayed at the Lord Nelson for four nights and I cant speak more highly of the place. All the staff are so friendly and they try and take care of you the best they can. The location is great, approx 150yards from Lime street station, short walk from the town and from all the restaurants and bars. Hotel bar was quiet and relaxing before a night out. Room 314 was larger than some rooms I have stayed in previously in other hotels in liverpool. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a short break in liverpool. I will be back!!!
