“Poor standard for a Premier Inn”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Getting to the hotel at the end of the day from the city was like taking your life in your hands and hoping for the best, Not that easy to get to, traffic being bad is an understatement.
The Car park however does have plenty of space and is well lit and the staff do seem friendly.
The room was freezing with the heating not working at all, once this had been pointed out the, receptionist sorted it out and it was nice to come back to a warm-ish room after evening meal.
Evening meal, well, I had the Chicken burger with ultimate chips plus the grill as a starter. The chips were too salty, the burger was ok, a bit rubbery, but the bun it came in was as hard as a rock, not sure if it had been left out all day, but it certainly wasn't fresh and the accompanying salad looked limp.
I may have caught the pub on an off day, but when you are trying to eat your evening meal in quiet and you have children running around trying to destroy the place in the bar area it's quite a distraction. The Beefeater pub that is attached is in serious need of a facelift, not only the decor, but the menu as well. One thing that caught my eye straight away was the dirty tables with beer rings that hadn't been wiped up and were all sticky. It's the little things, attention to detail that make Premier Inns have such a good reputation, The hotel very good, The Pub, enough said about that.!!!

What really annoyed me was a gentleman trying to put a jacket on his son whilst his son was screaming "Dad you're hurting Me" over and over again without any intervention from the staff and little disregard from his own father, It doesn't take much for someone to video such a scene and send it to social services or even call the police.

As for peace and quiet in the rooms, once the fireworks died down, I did however have a good nights sleep.

Internet connection, - When will Premier Inns sort out it out and provide free access ?????

Breakfast is 6:30 through to 10am, at 7am, breakfast was still being put out and the hot food was still arriving, buffet didn't look that appetizing, self service as well, which is unusual, usually a waitress / waiter comes round and asks your preferences. Every Premier Inn I have stayed at I've always been greeted with a friendly smile, not here, It seems as though I was more of an inconvenience than a valued customer.

If you're a contractor and need to get off early this is NOT Recommended, If you don't care about the lack of customer attention this could be for you.

We stayed at the Premier Inn West Derby on recreational visit to Liverpool. The hotel is comfortable and is representative of the accomodation that Premier Inn offers across the UK as you'd expect. On our visit we found the front of house and house keeping staff both helpful and polite. There is more than adequate on-site free car parking and while the website literature warns that the hotel is located on a busy road and there may be some road traffic noise, we were at the rear (car park side) of the building and didn't have a problem. We travelled into Liverpool City centre each day on public transport - the bus stop was less than 100 yards away.

We ate in the BeefEater on one night and the meal was OK and the staff again were friendly. If you're happy to walk half a mile there is a nice little unlicenced Indian restaurant called the Eastern Tandori and they didn't mind at all if you went to the near-by Bargain Booze to get alcohol and charged just £1.00 per person corkage.

All in all I would recommend West Derby Premier Inn

Stayed for 3 nights. Cant fault the room, stayed in number 40, ground floor right at the end of the corridor. The kids (5 & 8) love the long corridor. The location of room meant that we didnt get any foot traffic going past and hence quiet nights sleep.
Staff really polite and helpful, gave the kids activity pack on arrival because there was a queue.
Breakfast fantastic always being topped up by staff who didnt stop. Dinner on the other hand was a let down. Despite booking a table we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated, then again an extended period to order food then over 45 minutes for it to arrive. Kids & us tired & grotty after a 5 hour journey and kids didnt really eat much when they had it. Should have brought activity book with us! Second meal of trip was much improved despite restaurant busy with football fans (Liverpool playing at home) and felt more organised however we did take book with us so kids fully occupied.

I stayed overnight with my family. I booked online. A text arrived a day or two before my stay with postcode and booking reference. We arrived, paid and was given my keys. No problems at all. The next morning, we had a very nice breakfast in the adjacent Beefeater.

Staff were very friendly. This hotel has everything and everyone you need for an easy run.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are equally good. The follow the same pattern.

We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting the city and going to a football match. The receptionist Cheryl was very friendly and professional and welcomed us warmly giving us advice on how to get out and about. The room was clean and we enjoyed our stay. Many thanks

Me and my wife stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as we were attending a family funeral. when we arrived we were welcomed with a warm smile. We were early for check in but Cheryl on reception was very understanding and moved things around for us so she could check us in early, to which we were very grateful. The room was as we expected as we've stayed at premier inn before, clean spacious and comfortable. the only downside was the tv was it was a little dated. The housekeeping team were very polite and acknowledged us when were walking to and from our room.

The food in the restaurant was really tasty and our waitress sharon did a tremendous job even though they were rushed of their feet.

Cheryl and the team did an amazing job they made us feel at ease and were very compasionate at this sad time. We will definately be back.
