Getting to the hotel at the end of the day from the city was like taking your life in your hands and hoping for the best, Not that easy to get to, traffic being bad is an understatement.
The Car park however does have plenty of space and is well lit and the staff do seem friendly.
The room was freezing with the heating not working at all, once this had been pointed out the, receptionist sorted it out and it was nice to come back to a warm-ish room after evening meal.
Evening meal, well, I had the Chicken burger with ultimate chips plus the grill as a starter. The chips were too salty, the burger was ok, a bit rubbery, but the bun it came in was as hard as a rock, not sure if it had been left out all day, but it certainly wasn't fresh and the accompanying salad looked limp.
I may have caught the pub on an off day, but when you are trying to eat your evening meal in quiet and you have children running around trying to destroy the place in the bar area it's quite a distraction. The Beefeater pub that is attached is in serious need of a facelift, not only the decor, but the menu as well. One thing that caught my eye straight away was the dirty tables with beer rings that hadn't been wiped up and were all sticky. It's the little things, attention to detail that make Premier Inns have such a good reputation, The hotel very good, The Pub, enough said about that.!!!
What really annoyed me was a gentleman trying to put a jacket on his son whilst his son was screaming "Dad you're hurting Me" over and over again without any intervention from the staff and little disregard from his own father, It doesn't take much for someone to video such a scene and send it to social services or even call the police.
As for peace and quiet in the rooms, once the fireworks died down, I did however have a good nights sleep.
Internet connection, - When will Premier Inns sort out it out and provide free access ?????
Breakfast is 6:30 through to 10am, at 7am, breakfast was still being put out and the hot food was still arriving, buffet didn't look that appetizing, self service as well, which is unusual, usually a waitress / waiter comes round and asks your preferences. Every Premier Inn I have stayed at I've always been greeted with a friendly smile, not here, It seems as though I was more of an inconvenience than a valued customer.
If you're a contractor and need to get off early this is NOT Recommended, If you don't care about the lack of customer attention this could be for you.
