“best value chinese in liverp[ool”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

we have been visiting this restuarant for the past 30+ years. it use to be called chaus in the old days but the food has remained the same all these years. great!!!!!!! if you like chinese banquets at a very reasonable price this is the place for you, most of my friends have remained loyal to this restaurant because of the standard of the food. it s probably never going to win awards for its decor bit basic but the food makes up for that and the staff are professional and helpful. another big big bonus is that you can take your own booze, not many places left like this enjoy whatever you may be celebrating and you will go back for more. give it a try!!!!!!

“A second review to award well deserved 5*s”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

In retrospect of my first review of Phoenix Palace, I now realise that I should have given it an EXCELLENT rating, so I'm here to do that now.

My other half and I decided on this restaurant for our Valentine's night treat, and as always, we were served a fantastic banquet.
We always have the £16 for two banquet because we LOVE the soy beef and pickled cabbage starter, as well as everything which follows!

The staff are always brilliant, you will see for yourself how hard they work. No request is too much, they have always been happy to get us whatever we need or ask for.

Aside from the fantastic food, I love the fact you can take your own drinks along, either soft or alcoholic. There is no corking fee or limit on drinks, which really brings the bill down in comparison to restaurants with a bar.

The food arrives so quickly and always to a fantastic quality. We have never had a quibble, never had to send cold food back as it is always piping hot. If you go for one of the banquets, consider requesting five minutes between courses and treat it like tapas, to be enjoyed and savoured over time.
You are never rushed out or hurried, they are happy to let you take as long as you need. As well, they are happy to wrap up anything you can't eat for you to take home.

If you think you like Chinese food, but you're a regular at cheap all-you-can-eat buffets, give Phoenix Palace a try and see the massive difference in quality!
Phoenix Palace (or Chaus to us) is a hidden gem. We will be loyal customers for as long as they will have us!

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

This restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in Liverpool. My family has been using this restaurant for around 25 years since it was reccomended to us by a friend of my Mothers and was called Chaus . The decor isn't flashy but when it comes to the food simply fantastic. Ribs where the meat just falls off the bone as they've been slow cooked. Another plus is that it is unlicensed meaning you take your own drinks and are not paying £12 plus for a bottle of cheap plonk like elsewhere. Try it you won't be disappointed, however I'd say book a table particularly on a Saturday or Sunday when the place can be really busy.

“BYO”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

15 of us for birthday meal, everything hot and at the same time... Must be a first for that many. Girls are lovely and you can bring your own wine, beers and soft drinks
There was not a lot left but managed a few doggy bags!
Very good for a Chinese.
If you can look past the old fish and furniture then you can't go wrong to eat here.
