“Never Again”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

We came to check in on the 13th September, for my girlfriends 30th Birthday.

We booked 2 rooms 1 disabled and 1 double.

On arrival we got asked for a swipe of a card even though we paid cash (fair enough as for any damage).

After checking into the room, I went to the toilet and the toilet lid came off in my hands also went to sit down and the seat was very loose.

Straight away we reported it and got told yes it be fixed tomorrow which was fine as we were there 2 nights.

Later on myself and girlfriend decided we wanted to try the bar food, only to be approached by i think his name was Ian who greeted us with, What do you want. and not only that we asked where the nearest supermarket was as we were going to be back late and did not know if there was going to be any food outlets nearby open at 3am. and his answer was " Why do you want a Supermarket and what type of supermarket".

It was very upsetting for my girlfriend to have this experience on her 30th birthday and we have booked next year at a diffrent hotel.

We stayed in Campanile in France 20 years ago but were a bit disappointed this time. Last time the breakfast was great with local specialities mixed in with standard fare. Full English was freshly cooked but bog-standard sausage (why do so many places do this?) and asked whether we wanted beans or tomato, rather than assuming both. To me FULL English means that and if you don't want something you say so. Cheese was portion packs of plastic cheddar and Philadelphia - why not Lancashire or Cheshire? Nice croissants, but why not some crumpets, pikelets or muffins? Sausages and bacon from local butcher would be good instead of same as rest of the country.
TV showing news with sound off - what's the point? Radio was turned down when asked, but til then music was too loud and chat in between unintelligible - again what's the point.
Room was fine. A bit pricy but I reckon Liverpool prices change according to the football schedule. Would be more inclined to stay again if we knew which side of the hotel our room was on (we had main road - other side had waterfront).

Room Tip: Go for waterfront side if you can have a choice

My Wife & I stayed here for 2 nights with friends. The main reasons we chose this hotel was the price & location. Albert dock is just a couple of mins away & you can reach the town centre in about 10 mins. The lady at reception was very cheerful & check in only took a couple of minutes. The rooms were a good size with a very comfy bed. The bathroom was also ok with a nice powerful shower. The Hotel seemed clean throughout & we didnt have any problems during our stay. We didn`t eat in the restaurant but did have a couple of drinks in the bar which was ok. If you do feel hungry but dont fancy the restaurant there is a KFC & Mcdonalds directly over the main road. The main problem I had during our weekend away was the weather, it was wet & cold, but we couldn`t blame the Hotel for that!

I stayed for 4 days in a clean and comfortable hotel with reasonable price. I didn't have breakfast because it wasn't included and I thought it was a bit expensive. Friendly staff. The room was a bit noisy in the early evening due to traffic on the main road.

Turned up at the hotel and had to wait 5 minutes at the reception before anyone even noticed we were there to check in. Eventually got to our room after a long day and I can say I have never been so disappointed in my life. Only 1 light next to the bed worked and the other didn't. We rang reception and they sent down there maintenance who had a mess around with it and said it's broke and they cant do anything. After they left we checked the light fixing and the fixing was left loose and could be lifted and wires were showing underneath which could be a fire hazard or dangerous if you had kids. Also electrical items hadn't been pac tested for nearly 2 years. Complained to reception and checked out after being there for about 20 minutes. Would never stay at this hotel again.

Sorry to hear about your wait while checking in. We aim to keep wait to a minimum while our guests are checking in and out of the hotel but on this occation have failed our customer. It saddens me to hear you did not completely enjoy your stay with us but please be rest assured all our electrical equiptment is fully PAT tested with all the correct fire safety certificates in place. Although we do compete with maintainence issues daily within he hotel, we aim to correct any technical faults as swiftly as they are reported. Apologies for any discomfort this may have caused.

Kind regards

We booked this hotel as a last minute idea priced at £110.00 for the night (and that was without breakfast) rather than take the train from Chester where we were staying for a few days. The hotel is very close to the Albert Docks but not as close to the town as first thought. It seemed to take a about 15-20 minutes and that's if you know the way and probably longer if your drunk. The car park seemed very secure and the staff very friendly but on entering the room it there was no hidden luxury here. Both the walls and ceiling were covered in chip paper which was just like a council flat. The carpet didn't look like it had been hoovered in a while but other than that, the bed was clean and the shower was excellent. I actually had a reasonable nights sleep considering that the bedroom had a door which closed you off from the bathroom and entrance hall making the room seem even smaller than it was, almost claustrophobic. 2 star...yes, worth £110 a night... No, £40 at the most

Room Tip: Pick another hotel!!

Apologies you did not fully enjoy your stay with us at Campanile Liverpool and did not live up to our guests expectations. We aim to provide value for money to our guests and the best customer service experience avaliable. Though some of our guests can create noise from traffic on the corridors we have provided internal doors to help with this, which I fully appriciate could make some people claustraphobic. Although I hope one day we can welcome you back to the hotel someday in the future.

Kind regards,
