“Okay for a base but never again!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

We booked this hotel on a recent trip to Liverpool as it was fairly central to everthing and not too badly priced for the 2 of us. It was easy to find and located close to the docks so in walking distance to the town. Check in was fast and we were given our swipe card (with which took 3 attempts to open the door!) On walking into the room we were met by the smell of stale smoke and general fustiness so we tried to open the window to air the room out only to find that the windows did not open!. We looked around the room and the walls were filthy, the bedding was dirty and looked as though it had not been washed properly which made us feel really dirty. We asked at reception for some clean bedding and some extra pillows as there were only 2 on the bed and we were told that we wouldn't be able to have either as they hadn't got any! I also asked for clean towels and an extra towel to dry my hair with..I was told by the receptionist that I could use the bathmat to dry my hair with!! After a short discussion, I was given a towel rather than a bathmat to dry my hair with! Not knowing the city we decided to go off and explore and make the best of the visit, we just went and bought some bedding from the shop to put on the bed for the night (which you really should never have to do but it meant the stay could be easy and we could stay where we were!)
When we arrived back at the hotel later that evening the reception was unstaffed. Nobody was around to help out if there were any issues, although to be fair even when the staff had been at reception, we didn't actually recieve any assistance anyway! The room was very noisy through the night with people shouting and arguing, which made us question what sort of place we had come to. When we complained in the morning when there was finally a member of staff at reception, we also saw at least another 2 parties of guests also complaing about the noise and the state of the rooms. We were quite looking forward to breakfast so that we could check out of the hotel and enjoy the day before returning home, but unfortunately the breakfast room was dirty. The tables were sticky, the plates and bowls were dirty as was the cutlery. we managed to search and find something that eventually looked clean enough to eat from. Although there was a cold buffet style breakfast available, we decided to just have a pastry as we guessed that would have just come out of a packet to eat. We would not have taken the chance of eating anything that would have been prepared in the kitchen after having seen the hygiene standards in the rest of the hotel! I have to say on the positive side that the bathroom in the room was spotless! it is just a shame that the rest of the room and the hotel was not up to the same standard.

Room Tip: Do not book here

We stayed at this Campanile in LIverpool at very short notice on Easter Sunday and found the situation ideal so close to the vibrant dock area and the staff friendly and helpful. It is basic accommodation but you get what you pay for and the free car parking is a bonus. It's a pit there isn't a category between 'average' and 'very good' when rating places, as it is better than average but not as good as 'very good'!

Spent few days in Liverpool this is a great budget hotel right at the docks where everything is. As with the other reviews ask for a sea view room it is great value for money. Room fairly small but clean and has everything you need for the short time you spend in it as there is so much to do and see just round the corner. Continental breakfast is basic with not much choice but again more that required to see you off for the day and there is loads of places to eat round in the docks if you prefer breakfast there.

Room Tip: As above get a room with a view over the docks and the sea the other rooms are on to the main road

Good place to stay if you want to be close to the city centre on a budget price.
Warm and clean hotel. Walls quite thin had some noisy people in the next room This is my second time staying here so knew what to expect. Car parking free.

The hotel was basic and decor very dated, but cleanish in parts. The location Is good, looking straight out on to the Liverpool docks. We had a room that over looked the quay side. The breakfast was basic, we had continental at a very reasonable price, though limited in some ways to what there is on offer. The decor in the room was very dated and could do with a face lift. In the bar and restaraunt the decor was good but a mismatch of old and contemporary.
We payed £35 for the night, two of us with cont breakfast.
This was a late booking, and prob the only reason why stayed.
The real down side was you have no chance of a in interrupted nights sleep with the paper thin walls! You here everything, including just light conversation.
The best thing ... Free wifi throughout and in your rooms.
Sorry in balance ... Would not stay again, as I want a nights sleep in some half decent decor

Stayed here for one night on the 13th March, for the Olly Murs concert, couldn't have stayed in a better hotel, great location, right next to the Echo Arena & Liverpool One, rooms were immaculate, breakfast was lovely & the staff were very friendly, left 2 posters in reception by mistake and was already in the train station before I realised, had a phonecall from the lady on reception to tell me she was going to post them to me, came boxed properly and really secure. only problem was the lack of plug sockets, that's all. will definately stay again next time I'm in Liverpool! Also met the Loveable Rogues after the concert who were also staying at the Campanile which was an added bonus!!
