My partner and I celebrated our birthdays with an over night stay. We arrived before check in time of 3pm and were given a room. The staff, who were all local's, were really nice and polite. They even went and slipped a birthday card under our room door for us. The double standard room was good, with a comfortable bed and plenty of room. After a good breakfast we took time to use the pool and sauna. We also had a free of charge late check out, which was great after our night out. I will use this hotel again. It has great staff and in a central location within the city centre, seconds away from shops pubs and all the attractions this great city has to offer.

Have stayed at Liverpool Marriott numerous times since it first opened as a Swallow Hotel in 1998 and having not been to the hotel for a number of years I felt a mixed bag and sadly it seems its not the place it once was.

The hotel is well situated for everything Liverpool has to offer and offers secure parking at a reasonable price in the attached car park at £12 per night. The hotel no longer offers a full service restaurant and Oliver's is now used solely for breakfast. The lobby is quite small and has a small bar area and coffee shop attached, I'm guessing that the restaurant and bar wasn't pulling in the revenue due to the proximity of numerous outlets.

All staff are very friendly and efficient, but I doubt the hotel would suit the business man as there isn't an Executive lounge and the Business centre only has one computer, wifi is chargeable in the bedrooms but available in the lobby area free of charge.

The rooms are starting to look very tired, stained carpets and the furniture is the same as that when it opened in 98. Come on Marriott for the rates this property charges and with the increased competition in this sector, the hotel should be upping its game. Plastic glasses in the bathroom and bland toiletries and Primark hollow fibre pillows. I think it's time they updated their rooms.

Room Tip: If you room doesn't include breakfast you can add it at check in for £10 per head.

Stayed here recent as part of a group - there were 30 of us.
Positive points - location of hotel is very central, reception staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Negative points - the "restaurant" was chaotic each morning for breakfast, not enough staff and staff not organised. We ate dinner in the hotel twice as part of our package - meal was virtually identical on both occasions, very poorly presented on buffet table. The tilt and turn window in our room was off its top hinge on arrival, maintenance tried to fix it, couldn't and promised to the next day. It wasn't fixed the next day nor the next. Solution was to lock it shut and we had to rely on air con for ventilation. No attempt from management to compensate us in any way.

Very disappointing for a 4 star hotel.

Stayed for one night to take my daughter to Uni open day, taking advantage of £95 Friday night deal on Marriott website. Easy, friendly check-in. Lovely large bathroom, comfy beds, good night's sleep. Less than 100 yards from La Tasca, Ask and Nando's. 7 minute walk to Albert Docks. Parking £12 overnight in multi-storey right next door. Will definitely stay again.
