“Not up to Marriott standard”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

First the pluses - good location, helpful and friendly staff, on site gym. Now the minuses - rooms are tired, charging for internet these days is a definite rip off, can be noisy given one side of the hotel looks out over the bus station, sixth floor used to be smoking floor and the smell in the corridors and some of the rooms is awful. Breakfast ok but nothing special. This hotel is ok for one night if you are there on business - would not recommend longer.

Room Tip: Avoid the sixth floor. Ask for a room on the opposite side to the bus station if you want a quiet ro...

Could not fault this place .Very convenient to Lime Street train station though we arrived by car and were very pleased to find secure car park at rear of hotel( for patrons of the Marriott,) a few steps away from the Reception . We were prepared to pay for the parking but on check out the lady on Reception verified our ticket which meant there was no charge!
Lovely hotel ,which one would expect from the Marriott. Very clean and decorated to high standard No surprises! Super breakfast with loads of choice and plenty of it Bedroom bright, clean and attractive.
Would highly recommend

Room is presentable and clean apart from a bathroom smell bleach ( not my favourite smell ) but at least it means that room has been clean before I checked in. Very convenient to the rail station. Friendly staff and affordable. Very good location for shopping too :)
Maybe just need extra socket closer or next to the bed .

Room Tip: Bring extension chord if prefer to use laptop while on bed Book taxi day before to avoid hassle

Stayed with kids for 1 night for in March 2013 but have stayed previously in the Nov 2012 with a different type of party.the hotel is brilliantly located for access to Liverpool City Centre & only a short walk to the docks. Clean and our 2xqueen rooms on both occasions were roomy and up to the usual marriott standards. Pool was a good size for a city centre hotel and also clean. Kids very much enjoyed their morning swim. The staff on both visits were friendly and helpful from reception, pool through to the breakfast team. The only criticism I would have is the breakfast. Not nearly as much choice as with other marriotts and a very crowded set up for the buffet. For the extra cost their are other establishments in Liverpool city centre which provide a better breakfast.

We stayed at the Marriott Liverpool City Centre the last weekend of January 2013. The only really nice things about our stay at this hotel were the pleasant and friendly attitudes of the front desk ladies, the wonderful city center location and the descent breakfast Buffett. Otherwise, the hotel was lacking a lot to claim a 4 star status. First, there was no central heat in the room. January was quite cold and wet, but we had to rely on a portable room heater to keep the room warm. Second, there was no free WIFI in the room and for the price that is charged for the room, there should be free WIFI. Third, the hotel charges a fee to use the internet in the business center and while the hotel does offer one hour of free WIFI in their lounge / Bar again area it's not enough considering room prices (And it assumes everyone travels with a laptop). Fourth, the concierge was not helpful and seemed less knowledgeable about the Liverpool area than the front desk ladies. Fifth, the TV channel selection was sorely lacking and the screen and sound both were of poor quality. I could add six, seven and eight, but I don't want to embarrass the Marriott corporate managers and further in this review. Suffice to say that we will consider other accommodations when we return to Liverpool.

Room Tip: It's pot luck I suppose. Good luck !!

In a big hotel, there is bound to be the occasional duff room. Unfortunately we got it! I won't go into details but suffice it to say we found the room depressing and not entirely functional. We immediately asked for a change of room but the hotel was full. So we made the best of it. Staff were very sympathetic and helped as far as they could. So although disappointed I can honestly say that after the staff interventions we had a good night's sleep and a decent shower. The next morning we spoke to the manager who went to view the room while we were out, completely agreed with our complaints and offered a very substantial reduction in the bill. So we left thinking we would come again - manager asked us to contact her if we did and she would make sure we had a nice room.

We didn't want to pay £14.50 for breakfast at the hotel. We went out and found somewhere lovely right in Queen's Square. Coffee Crew. I wanted to write a review for them but Trip Advisor doesn't recognise at present. Lovely coffee, delicious sausage and bacon breakfast, helpful manager, very attractive decor and fast free wifi - Marriott Hotel take note of this last!

Room Tip: Ask for a good room!
