“Disappointing experience redeemed by very good customer service”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

In a big hotel, there is bound to be the occasional duff room. Unfortunately we got it! I won't go into details but suffice it to say we found the room depressing and not entirely functional. We immediately asked for a change of room but the hotel was full. So we made the best of it. Staff were very sympathetic and helped as far as they could. So although disappointed I can honestly say that after the staff interventions we had a good night's sleep and a decent shower. The next morning we spoke to the manager who went to view the room while we were out, completely agreed with our complaints and offered a very substantial reduction in the bill. So we left thinking we would come again - manager asked us to contact her if we did and she would make sure we had a nice room.

We didn't want to pay £14.50 for breakfast at the hotel. We went out and found somewhere lovely right in Queen's Square. Coffee Crew. I wanted to write a review for them but Trip Advisor doesn't recognise at present. Lovely coffee, delicious sausage and bacon breakfast, helpful manager, very attractive decor and fast free wifi - Marriott Hotel take note of this last!

Room Tip: Ask for a good room!

We were directed to this hotel due to a fire at the hotel we had previously booked. The staff were very nice and the location excellent. However, the rooms were tired, the shower curtain smelled of mildew, and the carpet was dirty. There was a breakfast buffet with made to order eggs, etc, but the food was just OK. Unfortunately, the heat in the room did not work, and there was a small space heater already in the room. Although there was WIFI in the hotel, there was a 15 British pound charge for 24 hours of access. Theft! One could have a free hour every 24 hours in the lobby bar, which was not very inviting. The hallways were lovely!

It was just an OK stay for a couple nights, but not one that I would look forward to again.

I visited the Marriott in Liverpool for a lunch time snack.
The facilities were very clean and modern and the staff were friendly.
The food was nice and didnt take long to prepare.
Recommended place to eat - menu had a variety of different types of food so plenty to choose from. Was a little pricey for what you get however you expect this at a hotel especially in a city centre.

Wanted to spend a nice weekend with the wife and the name has a reputation, so I called up asking if there were any rooms with a jacuzzi. They said there was one in the most expensive room - The Penthouse. When I got there I found a tiny bath tub with holes in it, so I'd already felt misled. Anyway, in a bid to make the most of the situation I thought I'd try it out, and low and behold it wasn't working, with some of the knobs missing and dust gathering in them. I'm not sure if anyones actually stayed in that room for months, and as for the person I booked it with, I very much doubt they had any idea of what was actually in the room. I find it incredible that one of the most expensive hotels in the area requires you to pay for wifi, and furthermore, breakfast in my room arrived 20 minutes late. When you are paying for the most expensive room in this hotel, you would hope they would take a little extra effort to ensure everything is in order. It was utterly disappointing and I would have got much more value for money staying at a Premier Inn.

Stayed here in November for two nights. The hotel is more or less in the Center of Liverpool, there is a train station right across the road from the hotel. Staff are very friendly and polite. The rooms were nice and comfy and the food was just superb. Will definatley stay here again.

This hotel in Liverpool City Centre, while awkward to get to, more than makes up for this slight inconvenience by the fact that it - literally - within walking distance of most of the attractions in this city.
Staff are polite, friendly and unobtrusive, undertaking their jobs with diligence and alacrity. Nothing is too much trouble and the typical Liverpudlian friendliness is very much in evidence.
Rooms could have been slightly larger but were clean, well-equipped and more than adequate for the short stay we had there.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
