“Needs a refurb”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in penthouse suite for 2 nights. Second being new years eve. The reception staff were cheerful, very welcoming and helpful. However our suite was to coin a phrase naff. It needs a big refurb and a new heating system. It was freezing!!! There was a plug in heater in the bedroom but it wasn't much help. The bathroom was tired and needed ripping out and modernising.

However the hotel is in a fab location. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment.

I agree with some of the other reviewers, it is in a great location. The only problem was driving to it, I could see the hotel across the street but it took a 15 minute drive to get there, thank God for GPS because I wouldn't have been able to figure it out of how to do it. I used the post code and it brought me down a side street close to the location, and I had to search for it another 10 minutes before even seeing it.

As for the actually hotel, it was clean, the staff was friendly, and everything worked in the room. It had an OK gym, small but it had most of the machines that you would look for. For a Marriott, it was average. I would say I'm torn between the ratings on this one for the site, it's somewhere between average and very good. If you want a quite night of sleep in a good location this isn't a bad choice.

We attended for a works christmas dinner/entertainment. Room booked for overnight stay afterwards. Food was close to inedible. Although the meal was for a large group, the food was basic and bland, especially for the price of £40 per head. It was hot, which is about as much as a compliment that could be given. The entertainment was minimal and restricted to a disco on a small dance floor. Drinks expensive but as expected for a hotel. The room was quiet but dated. It was small compared to other rooms in the same price bracket. Bathroom was rubbish. This hotel needs a serious refurb and i cannot reccommend it.

Obviously a good location if visiting Liverpool but not value for money at all.

A great central location right in the centre of the city. Reasonable pri es as well. Service is good. Only problem we had was that the air conditioning was broken and we had to leave the door open to cool down. Buffet breakfast has a great variety to choose from. Great bar downstairs to sit and relax and just outside as you come down the steps is La Tasca Tapas Bar. Why stay anywhere else when you can stay in the heart of the city.

We stayed here for one night early January. Check in was quick and effiicient. We went to our room and had to call reception since there was no iron. We also asked for additional tea and coffee. The request was fulfilled within a few minutes. Breakfast was good and self service. I imagine the restaurant could get very busy if the hotel is full since it seemed to be quite small considering the number of rooms. The room was clean and quiet.

Booked this hotel for a girlie weekend away. It's in a fantastic location, very near lime street train station and a short walk to the busy city centre. Very friendly staff and lovely clean room. Only faults were that you had to pay extra for wifi and the leisure facilities were filthy! The ladies changing room by the pool was pretty disgusting but it didn't really affect the overall experience of a very good stay.

Arrived for New Years Eve stay to be greeted by very friendly doorman and receptionist .The room was not quite ready so we had a drink in the comfortable bar. We were pleased with the room which was spacious and well furnished .There was an ironing board and iron plus fan in the wardrobe ! The usual toiletries and towels provided and tea and coffee facilities...would have been nice to have more milk as 2 little pots in a mug left it a bit strong and we fought over the one pack of broken biscuits ..haha . I would have thought Wifi would have been included ,having paid around £130 for the room and breakfast. This said we didnt make use the leisure centre .The breakfast was excellent and was available from 8 til 12noon presumably as most guests would have had a late night and was very much appreciated. the lifts did seem a bit slow /temperamental. All in all a ideally located hotel, fab breakfast and polite friendly staff and we will have no hesitation in returning here .

Room Tip: Ask for a room that gives full view Of World museum and Georges hall for good view ...ours was a...
