WE booked the Penthouse suite as a treat, on arrival we were welcomed, offered assistance with our bags. The room and view was superb, inviting warm and spacious, very clean, on point on saturday night a group of guests decided it would be good to play loud music at 1 am, one callto reception and it was dealt with quickly and efficiently, breakfast was excellent, staff sociable, what more could you ask, and the pool is lovely and warm

Fantastic location, 3 to 5 minutes walk from Lime Street Station, close to all of the action. Room was a little tired, but was spacious (tired: dusty, stained carpet, mildew in bathrub, etc.). WiFi could tend to be expensive. Fitness facility was great, with 3 treadmills, an elliptical and a stepper, along with a good selection of strength building equipment. Great breakfast with selections both hot and cold and a custom egg station.

Have stayed in lots of Marriotts in the past, but this one disappointed. Some staff great, some less so. Some bits of the hotel fine, some a bit shabby. Room - a quit expensive suite - was very cold and lacked a few things I would consider standard, and air con sounded like a turbine engine. So I'd have to more agree with loulou336 than charlotttelucas99.

In general the hotel needs a total overhaul. It is NOT up to the Marriott standard. The rooms are spacious but need updating badly. You are not encouraged to sit for long in the bar area (without having your coat on) as it is freezing cold as it is beside reception and the main entrances. The temperature in the room could not be regulated. There was a portable heater in our room which we were very glad of as the room was cold but unfortunately the room then becomes very stuffy. Our room was a smoking room (which we did request) but we found it strange in a smoking room that the window was locked shut. We were not informed that the restaurant in the hotel would not be open on the Sat night due to a wedding party. Food was being served in the bar but as stated it was too cold to sit and eat in the bar.On the Sat morn housekeeping woke us up as they knocked on our door at 8.40am asking to clean the room. We were not checking out so this was very annoying. One tip, remember to have the credit card you booked with on you when you arrive. I arrived before my husband and didn't have the card with me. I did offer the receptionist a visa debit card but she siad that she would have to charge that card in full or I would to wait until my husband arrived before she could check me in. As he was not arriving for another 2hrs this was not an option.Talk about feeling like a criminal. I understand there are fraudulent cards in circulation but making your guests feel like criminals is appalling.

Stayed here for 2 nights at the weekend and to say i was impressed is an understatement, travelled on a package with Superbreak which is incidentally is a very good company with competitive pricing, right the hotel staff first, Nicole on Reception, friendly and professional, The Concierge Ronnie, helpful and nothing too much trouble, Bar Staff brilliant, all the workers at Breakfast, especially The Chef were efficient and friendly, we had a lovely room on the 3rd floor, the location was brilliant, a 2 minute walk from Lime Street Train Station, would stay here again in a heartbeat when i visit The Pool again, great customer service, well done Marriott

Room Tip: Room 316 was great, a double executive

Three friends & i booked 2 nights away & booked 2 twin rooms. On arrival we were told we would be in double rooms, but maybe a sofa bed could be added. This did not materialise & we were given 1 room with a king sized bed & 1 with a double - not acceptable! they would not expect 2 men to share a double. We were only moved when a lady in reception offered us her twin room. The explanation was that by booking through 'booking.com' our room preference was only a request. So be aware when booking this hotel. All other aspects were good.
