The waitress could not have been more attentive I queried whether she was a member of the family who owned it.? We were a group of 6 with 3 of us having very specific dietary needs. These were discussed with us and meals offered that weren't on the menu. The fish just melted in your mouth, one of the best fish restaurants I have ever been in. Starters enormous suggest sharing. Olives fab as was the bread. So why not 5 stars the waitress forgot one of our meals and the toilets are a real hike up many stairs not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

Hi...Love the pun!!
Glad you found us to be one of the 'best' seafood restaurants you have been in, with the waitress very helpful & the food delicious! Sorry she forgot to input one of the dishes! We are having work done on internal structure work, which may take some time! The joys of being in a very cosy, traditional, listed Victorian building...full of character....but a bit quirky!
See you again soon!! Thanks again for your compliments!
Warmest regards,
Andrew Ewing

Booked for Sunday dinner during the Easter weekend, and did not disappoint. Very fresh oysters, as well as grilled fish. Would go again.

Toddler meal options very good, but note the restaurant is not very big, so best to bring along activities for the table.

Had a lovely meal here with friends but would not rush back again. Service very friendly and prompt. I had the fish and chips which were served on chip shop paper... Nice idea but ends up disintegrating into the food so possibly avoid that! Also had calamari to start. Must say that I have had better elsewhere (fish and chips in the moon and pea was better and a fraction of the price) and calamari was nothing special. Nice, but nothing special.

Dear BL, Thanks for your review.
Glad you and your friends had a lovely meal, and the service was good as well!

Noted your other points, thanks. Price comparisons between different establishments are always misleading, as the cost base as well as the quality of the ingredients will vary, as does each and everyones individual taste buds!
Thanks again
Cheers Andrew

We ate here before going to a concert and the service was speedy and efficient. We chose scallops for starters. Good, but one each rather than two would have been sufficient. We followed with the recommended fish of the day a sole type fish, on the bone which was delicious. Ice-cream with an espesso poured over completed the meal and we finished in good time for the concert. The bill was about ninety pounds (including a very acceptable bottle of wine), so not cheap but worth it.

There was an unbelievable amount of hype about this place, and it came really highly recommended. Unfortunately it just wasn't up to scratch when we went. The bread starter was basically toasted frozen bread, the first lot of which was stale (really, really bad), the main dishes were, on average, just about OK. I had the fish and chips, which was pretty good. My partner had a pasta dish which was just really bland and uninspiring. Given the reviews on here, we were expecting much better. The setting is nice, and it was a cosy atmosphere, but the service was pretty poor too (they brought us the wrong wine, and seemed uninterested when we complained about the bread being stale). We won't be going back in a hurry. In fact the following day we went to Jamie's Italian at L1 (we're not normally ones for chain restaurants) and had an equivalent-ish shellfish and pasta dish which was much tastier.

Oh - and a quick note on price. Not sure why someone thought it was pricey. I'd say the price was quite reasonable for an Italian meal out in that part of town, but for the quality, there are better places to eat.

Dear Rhivolution,
Thanks for the review!
As for hype and receommendations...as you know we have absolutely NO control over what people say about our restaurant on here!! We certainly don't hype up anything... and in my repeated replies to the many glowing reviews, and the few not so glowing.... I clearly state that all we claim to do is t to ry our best! Sometimes we dont get it right... such is the 'joy' of being a non-chain venue, where the quality of the offering is based on the skills of the Chef on duty that day, and not some pre-set menu dictated from a centre somewhere!! Glad though that the vast majority of guests who have dined with us have given us such glowing praise, on here and also in the manu emails, and cards we receive direct!
Sorry to hear that your comments about the bread did not seem to be acknowledged. Glad you think we are good value for money, and for the rest of the positive things you said.
Regards, Andrew Ewing
