“Perfect location”
Reviewed June 19, 2014

Being right opposite Lime Street, the Holiday Inn has a great location if you're traveling by train
Staff at check in were really friendly which always creates a good impression.
Room was fine - clean and with no noise despite its central location.
Breakfast was a help yourself buffet with a good selection and a great view out onto the city streets a couple of floors below. Can't fault this place and will definitely use again.

Stayed here from 06th June for four nights, on a leisure break, arrived by train (Lime Street Station) the hotel could not be any closer, just across the road, how perfect is this?.

Upon arrival we were greated by "Claire" who welcomed us to the hotel, however we were very disappointed to find that we couldnt check-in beacuse the rooms were unavailable, ok the check-in time was 15pm and we had arrived somewhat early (1230pm) however having stayed at other Holiday Inn / Crowne Plaza Hotels this has not been a problem, to give Claire credit she did try her very best to get us our rooms, no joy, Claire asked us to come back around 1430pm, which we did BUT this time only the one room was available, I then had to wait a further 90mins to get the other room, this is not acceptable in this day and age of travel.

Once in the rooms, which were the "Newer" refrubed rooms (4th Floor, Room 406/408) they were spottlessly clean, fresh and very comfortable.

We had various meals at the hotel and can honestly say there were no complaints, anyone ordering the Steak & Kidney Pie with Seasonal Veg you certainly will not be disappointed the same goes for the Chicken Steak & Penne Pasta.

The breakfasts were fine, Summer & Amber looked after us very well, only slight issue was no omelettes were available together with no scrambled eggs.

The location of the hotel is first class, Lime Street Station is across the road, the main bus station is not fair around the corner near to "St George's Hall", the Empire Theatre is just up the road and the shops are within walking distance, this includes the new "Liverpool One" shopping centre, a further 10mins down the road is "Albert Dock which is a must, also here is the Tate Modern + Beatles Museum.

Room Tip: Request a higher floor room, great views of Liverpool, St Georges Hall, & The Liver Birds.

Thank you for placing your review following your stay with us, earlier this month.
We are very pleased to learn that, in the main, you enjoyed your time with us benefiting from our great location, good food and good service.
I am sorry that you didn't get both reserved rooms by 3pm on the date of arrival. I know that Clare was trying to get you rooms next to each other. I shall also ensure that both brekfast items your required are avaiable, on request, at breakfast.
Thank you, once again, for your kind review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Liverpool in the near future.
Yours faithfully

Two nights stay whiling on business

Whilst the room was clean and spacious that was the positive point,

The reception staff could certainly of been more friendly and welcoming, as for the bar food I thought I would eat lite with an omelette and chips well the omelette had been made of rubber !
As for breakfast where's the healthy options, no scrambled eggs, no offer of omelette, only limited choice of fruit and yoghurts

The only real positive point was the central location, but for that nightly rate was far too excessive

Stayed here 12th June 2014 and the hotel is located right in the heart of the City Centre which is ideal. Upon arrival I was checked in at Reception by a gentleman with a very grubby white shirt and a slight `pong' emanated from over the counter. Not a great first impression! My room on the 9th floor was nice, basic but comfortable and fresh and had a great view out over the city. I was keen to watch the World Cup opening game so only had a bar meal in front of the big screen. I only had a burger and wine which was alright but the young chap who served behind the bar was very professional, attentive and pleasant and also double up as the waiter when the food arrived. He was a credit to the Hotel. I went out on the town later and arrived back in the wee small hours only to be met by two gentlemen at the door who had that `Big Brother' look in their eyes as they let me back into the hotel and as I made my way to the elevator I could feel the hot rod stares in my back. That said, a comfortable nights sleep on a nice bed was in order. This hotel is not bad at all but I left with the feeling that with a little attention to detail on the small things the experience could have been much better. Some new clean fresh staff uniforms would be a good start!

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view of the City.

Great location. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Dinner service was very slow even though we were the only table in the restaurant. Our drinks took forever to arrive and we nearly gave up . However when the food arrived it was very good,in fact surprisingly good.
Breakfast was manic with only 2 staff on who were rushed off their feet, poor choice of hot food, very basic.
attended an event there, the delegate lunch choice was strange and not a good mix of food offered by the hotel to choose from.
Lesley in C&B was a credit to the hotel

Stayed last night after going to see The Lion King at the Empire Theatre. Straight off the train crossed the road and we were at the Holiday Inn. Excellent location. Really nice decor, clean and comfortable. No noise from other guests, would definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 506 had good views over to St Johns gardens
