“Clean and comfortable”
Reviewed December 1, 2010

Not sure how new this place is, but it looks brand new - the rooms are apartment style - ie they come with microwave and sink as well as usual hotel room facilities, which is great. The staff were friendly. Only things missing were a bar / gym and usual hotel facilities which made it feel a bit impersonal.

Excellent location right in the heart of the bar and cafe area of Liverpool.

A Great place to stay as a base so close to everything ie nightlife albert docks and the fantastic 1 billion shopping center everything you could want and more. Our stay was for mainly anything to do with The Beatles trips and shopping. 5*

This place is great. Quiet and clean, fairly-priced. Close to city centre shops, restaurants, supermarket. What more could you want? Equipped with tiny kitchens with good quality (ie not dirt cheap) utensils. Only a microwave, but this is enough to make your own meals if needed.

Our visit got off to a slightly difficult start as we were in the car and, whilst we quickly got into the right area of Liverpool for the hotel, it was a bit tricky to find resulting in a couple of circuits of the central area. Nevertheless we parked illegally outside briefly to unload and were quickly given directions to a multi-storey car park a short distance away. The 24 hr secure parking was fine and we were charged £9 per day using a discount card from Reception. The Receptionists were friendly and helpful and we were very pleased with our room. We had a steeply sloping roof with some low beams, this was alright generally but you had to watch getting out of the left side of the bed as it was easy to crack your head on one of the beams. We had some good views of the city, the Anglican Cathedral one way and the Albert Dock area from another window. The room facilities were very good and these included free internet through the TV or you could plug in your laptop. There was also a mini kitchen area with a decent sized fridge hidden behind large doors where you could microwave meals and make drinks. Whilst the bathroom is very modern we felt that the available space was a bit cramped compared to other hotel bathrooms. The fact that there is no hotel restaurant was not a problem as we ate in nearby restaurants which cater for just about every taste; we also ate in the room too. The building itself is converted from an old print works so has plenty of character. The Rope Walk area of Liverpool is having a lot of improvement work done and the place is being smartened up considerably. The hotel is only a 10-15 minute walk from most things in the centre of the city and we walked everywhere quite easily. Its very handy for the Albert Dock area, Liverpool One shopping mall and the 2 cathedrals. All in all we were very content with the hotel but it will be better once most of the upgrading work in the area is complete.

Dear TJ862
Thank you for taking the time to post such an in-depth review of your stay.
I am so glad that you were “very pleased” with your room and that you appreciated the mini kitchen and the views. The room that you were in has views of the Liverpool cathedral but is also one of our smallest rooms on the 4th floor. This floor is the old roof area of the original building and the beams which are part of the original structure have been preserved to add character, which is unavailable in most of the other hotels in the city and the decision to leave the beams in your room was balanced against the size issue.
I hope you will stay again soon and experience another room on the 4th floor, all of which are bigger than the one you stayed in this time, or take a room on the second floor with magnificent high ceilings.
Regards,
Gary Laird

We arrived at the hotel 3 hours early to see if we could leave our bags there whilst we took in the sights of Liverpool to be told that our room was ready, There was a slight issue with the swipe card that they give you to access the building and lift. So the receptionist showed us to our spotlessly clean room. When we had dropped off our bags and went back down to the reception, we were advised on places of interest and places to eat. This was extremely helpful! Whilst down in the reception we had the great pleasure of meeting the Chief Executive of Base2Stay. What a gentleman! He made us feel extremely welcome alongside the fantastic staff! At the evening when we asked the Assistant Reception Manager and Receptionist where we could go out for a drink they advised us of some great places, we had a great evening thanks to them!

As for the room, it was spacious, clean, well maintained and we had a great view of the city from our window. The kitchenette was very clean and well fitted. The bathroom was spotless and was spacious with a great shower and good quality towels. The bed was also extremely comfortable with good quality linen.

All in all we had a great time at this hotel, the excellent staff accompanied with the brilliant room made us want to come back very soon! The building itself is full of character and has charming original features throughout - a great addition which many city centre hotels do not have.
