Heywood House is a small boutique hotel, located in an old building in the heart of Liverpool and, apparently, has been recently renovated. If you book a standard double room like I did, you will have a rather spacious room with high ceiling (which, I tend to believe, gives a special sense of comfort), huge window, nice bed and a modern bathroom. The touch of modern design can be seen in the room, but the corridors and stairs still keep the look of older days’ interior.
The location of this hotel is in a small quiet street, but is perhaps most convenient you may wish for exploring Liverpool. You can walk 5 min to the nearest underground station James Street, 10 min to the historic quay, ferry station and Albert Dock and about 15 min to the most happening area for a good night out and live music (including the famous Cavern Club).
This was perhaps the best hotel on my brief trip across England in September 2012.

Stayed here a few weeks ago for our anniversary, excellent location close to everything you need to be near too. Rooms are very well decorated, as some have said they are slightly smaller than others but the decor and facilities outway this. Very reasonable price, i have paid alot more for a lot worse!!!

Would recommend to anybody.

Stayed here for 2 nights and found it the most enjoyable experience, lovely room high ceilings, (fab dressed window) spacious and spotless. The staff were all really pleasant, helpful and the nice touch by housekeeping of sculpturing towels into kissing swans on our bed with rose petals was lovely ( our wedding Anniversay). Never been to Liverpool before and this hotel was perfectly situated for getting to most places. You can easily walk to Albert Docks, Echo Arena , Ferry, Cavern and liverpool 1 shops. Would advise if you arrive at Lime St with luggage you jump in a taxi to hotel (£3). Hotel will store your luggage if room not ready and on departure day. Noble Restaurant attached to Hotel was lovely ( bit pricy but worth it for a treat) . What's Cooking at Albert Docks was good for brekkie and coffee and All but One at top of road was worth a visit for a well priced evening meal or lunch. Beatles tour was fun you can book on line or at tourist information at Albert Docks, if 4 of you do the tour in a taxi as cheaper and you get to stop more. Cavern gets busy but we got a table and the guy on that eve was brill, it's open from 2pm and free entry Monday to Thursday . Cathederal was worth a trip and the view from Bell tower was breathtaking. By far the moment I will always remember was Crosby Beach. Go to Moorfield station (5min walk) buy a day pass to Southport (£3.40) you can hop on and off all day. Go to Halls Rd then walk straight down rd to your right less than 10 mins and you will reach the Other Place by Anthony Gormley there are 100 statues sunk in the sands at various intervals and heights you will get some amazing photos and its quite serene. Toilets avail at 20p and food van (dodgy but if you need a drink) parking also avail. Southport was better than I expected bit candy floss and amusements but some nice buildings and lovely walk down to pier. But back to hotel, book it, I used late rooms and got it for £65 a night for 2 people

Stayed at Heywood House for one night for our wedding anniversary trip to Liverpool. We upgraded to a 'plush'room when we booked. We arrived early and dropped our bags off in a secure area-no problem. We checked in late afternoon after lunch on the Albert Docks and a mooch round. Check in was a breeze and because we mentioned it was our anniversary, the hotel staff very kindly allocated us a lovely room with a free-standing bath. The hotel is really well decorated and is very clean. Our hotel room was lovely and quiet with lots of room and all the right stuff you needed including robes. The bed was very comfy and the shower was mint. Water pressure in this place was ace-bath took no time to fill!!!
We did not eat here so cannot comment on food. The hotels location is fab being between the Docks and Liverpool 1. The staff here were extremely accommodating and friendly. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
