As a precursor to a concert at the Liverpool Philharmonic hall we called into Host, in Hope Street.
The food is described as a fusion of oriental flavours and it certainly is.
It takes Chinese dishes and adds in Thai or Singapore and others even Mediterranean, mixes them up and wow some stirring tunes arrive on your pallet. We have eaten there a few times and I can recommend the Deep Fried Ham Hock as a starter but this time I went for the Orange Hoi Sin Glazed Baby Back Ribs the meat just fell off in your mouth, superb. For the main course I tried the Smoked Chipotle Chilli Chicken Udon Noodles very tasty and needed a beer to cool down the buds but again full of flavour, excellent. The decor is quite modern with two areas one with long Ikea style benches and one a little more intimate and cosy, which they call the bar. The price is fairly reasonable £20 each for two courses and a bottle of beer each.

We visited HOST for the first time for a change at lunchtime, and will certainly go back. The staff were welcoming and the restaurant clean and simple in its layout. The menu is a treat being oriental with a few twists thrown in. The small plate hock was a really nice surprise, not much to look at but it tasted amazing. The four pepper beef was fantastic as was the almond tart. This is not gourmet , but for very tasty food it is worth a visit.

The food in this gaff is amazing, really good onion bhaji no seriously they are incredible

The special lunch menu is a bargain, also they have some great cocktails. Really good kids menu too, none of the standards blob shaped MRM beige food..

Rude staff. Dirty glassware. Food was cold that might have something to do with the whole building as I had to eat with my coat on. Environmental's all wrong. Used to love this place and had not visited for a while. Was shocked to see it as it was. Green chicken curry just tasted like a bowl of spicy water! Needs some improvement

We were a group of 5 people for lunch. The restaurant was dead. The manager came over and took our order. Horrible service. I don't get how being she the manager could have served a table so badly! We ordered the food and found out the chicken was off. Very poor quality food. I have visited this place several times and its standards are plummeting.
