“Only Facts!”
Reviewed February 12, 2012

We arrived in the restaurant at 7 30 & we were the only customers!

Good:
1. Parking is available off street (free after 6 pm)

Bad:
1. The waitress did not inform us right at the beginning that there were no ribs (in any good restaurant, the waiter/waitress inform right away what's not there in the menu). After ordering the peppered chicken as the main course, just before serving, she informed us that they do not have any vegetables!
2. After the starters arrived, she forgot to give us the plates & for the mains, forgot to give us the cutlery!
3. She did not bother asking us for any repeat drinks and when we wanted the repeat, we had to shout for it as she was busy talking to her friend near the bar counter & she did not even have the courtesy to come and ask us!
4. We could hear someone yawning loudly from the kitchen!
5. The place did not have a portable card machine & we had to go inside another room!

“Wish we had known”
Reviewed April 22, 2010

........... that above this fantastic grill was a decent hotel! We stayed down the road at the Aldelphi - what a horror story that is (see my hotel review!)

The food was superb, beautifully cooked and seemingly the only place near the centre of town that served fresh vegetables and salads instead of chips. The service was attentive without being overpowering.

We ate there on the evening after we arrived in Liverpool and wanted to go back again the next night but unfortunately they were closed. However, we were back on Monday!

It is advised they are an American style eatery but I would think they are more French/Good Old English style.

The only downside was the trains running under the property making the tables rattle - great fun.

Don't hesitate - go

“Renshaw HOTEL above the Renshaw Grill - made a brilliant weekend even better”
Reviewed March 19, 2009

NB: For all comments re: 'Restauarnt please read 'Hotel'. My wife & I got a very late notification from the Atlantic Thistle that they were double booked and had tranferred us to the Renshaw Hotel. Finding where it's location was difficult as it has not long been open. OMG - we thought!
We travelled up and eventually found a small private car park just around the back of the hotel staffed by the the man that actually tiled the bathrooms! What to expect!!!!!!!
We arrived too early to straight in to the rooms so we left our luggage and had a great day in Liverpool itself (Albert Docks 15-20 min walk). When we did get to the room we were very pleasantly surprised. Unlike some 'advertisments' for hotels this was very 'Ronseal'. What it said was what you got. Everything was good quality (for us plebs that is!) and the room was very comfortable. The service and personality from all of the staff we came in to contact with was just what you'd want accomodating and very helpful but not overbearing or intrusive.
The breakfast in the morning (normally not included but this time paid for by the Thistle) was THE best hotel full english breakfast i have had. Not a massive amount of experience to base it on but being an ex-chef I know good from mediocre.
Many thanks to all for making our stay a memorable (for the right reasons) one!

“If music be the food of love”
Reviewed January 19, 2009

Menu red background with black print - very hard to read!

Service is brilliant - waitresses attentive and helpful an also up for a bit of craic.

Starter to share was lovely option for 4 people. Quite good menu selection ranging through steak (cooked to perfection), burgers, duck, chicken, to sea bass (excellent). Vegetables al dente (well done chef) .Desserts not that exciting but it would have been greed not need to have had one!

We were there on Saturday night and two brothers were playing bluesy music. They were excellent musicians but it was a bit loud for when folk were dining.

Were not put under any pressure to leave and bill was not presented before we had requested it.

Would recommend.
