Just got back from a nightmare hen party trip to Liverpool.
My friend paid for 10 of us to stay in the Alexander apartments in Liverpool on her Credit Card 3 months ago & we all gave her the cash 3 months ago.
On our way to Liverpool from the North East on Friday, the additional group of 5 coming up from London called to say that the company who owned the apartments hadn’t received our payment & wanted £60 cash of us all (we later heard on the grapevine that the company went in to liquidation (no wonder he wanted the cash) & so couldn't put card payments through). A bit of notice would have been good (i.e. they could have asked us 3 months ago).
The company then decided that the other apartment that they London girls were staying in wasn't clean enough to stay in so all 15 of us would all have to stay together (good job we knew each other) in the apartment for 10 (for which he still expected to receive a full £60 per head??!). The landlord / manager was extremely rude to our party & had 1 girl from each of the groups in tears during the day.
The rude owner/manager said he would bring extra beds & pick up the payments at half 6. We had a table booked at 7.15 at a restaurant. He eventually called at 6.45 & asked if we would be in at 7.30, we explained that we had a table booked & he clearly asked what time the table was booked, and asked us if we definitely would be out at 7.30 to which we explained again that we had a table booked (to which he wasn't happy that he wasn't getting his cash).
Running a bit late, we left the apartments at 7.15. Just as we finished our meal, my friend who suffers from a nut allergy had felt a reaction coming on and so 2 of them returned to the apartments to get some medication.
When they arrived at 9.30pm they found the front door kicked in. Nervously they entered the building and were devastated to see that the internal doors had been kicked in. The apartment had been absolutely ransacked!
Funnily enough, whoever it was didn’t touch a thing that belonged to the landlord, just trashed all our stuff. They hardly took anything but managed to tip out every single bag (containing ipods), every single zip, every single make-up bag (containing designer make-up), every single purse (containing plenty of cash i.e. £85, £65 etc).. All they took was £20, a train ticket & a pair of glasses (spectacles). What type of thieves break into an apartment sleeping 15 people, make all the effort to go through every single bag, zip, make-up bag & purse and not take cash / ipods etc? Someone who seriously wants to upset his guests?? As soon as the police had been round we packed up & went to a travel lodge where we all had to fork out additional funding for 2 nights accommodation. Seriously, do not stay here!
