Owner description: At International Slavery Museum you'll find out about the millions of people, both in the past and today, who have been taken into slavery, in particular those who were part of the transatlantic slave trade between about 1500 and 1865. Liverpool was a major slaving port so it is fitting that the museum is in Liverpool. The museum is on the third floor of the Merseyside Maritime Museum building. Entry is free.

Although this is a very thought provoking museum its general layout lacked a certain kind of flow. The signage was frequently repeated, and other exhibits had not enough information. It left me with more questions that answers.

I visted whilst on a trip to Liverpool, although small i found the museum interesting and informative. It is mainly about the african slave trade but also touches on salary today

It is quiet sobering as many think of slary as a thing of the past but it is still going on now.

Definatly worth a visit if you enjoy museums and enjoy history and culture.

Good interactive displays although hard to follow a narrative through it. Although the African slavery story was fully told, its historical context was completely lacking - plenty of civilisations have enslaved their defeated foes/ neighbours.

This was a university trip. The museum is split into different floors, so although the slavery museum was interesting, it was only one floor so it was quite small. Possibly not brilliant for young children as there is little interactive activities.

Absolutely great exhibition. Brings home the history of the slave trade, especially in Liverpool. It certainly pricks your conscience and more determined that it should never happen again.
