Staybridge Suites Liverpool

Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 14, 2013

A group of 6 of us stayed the night here when we were double booked by mistake in another Liverpool Hotel, all I can say is I'm glad for human errors as this hotel was fantastic. Right on the end of the docks it is convenient for shopping and nightlife. The rooms are huge and theyu have a fitted kitch inside, also iron hairdryer etc, the bathrooms are well equipped with
all the toiletries you could need and they are spotlessly clean. Complimentary breeakfas the next morning again had everything you could wish for from bagels to muffins and a wide variety of hot bacon eggs etc. A very enjoyable night

I stay here most times I am in the city for business, sometimes weeks/months at a time. This offers everything I need while away from home. A Kitchen if I feel the need to cook & Close proximity to city night spots if I wish to faternise with the locals. Telephone reception in some rooms/areas of the hotel is poor, as is the free WiFi.The staff are very friendly, which I like, some people who stay at hotels on business not very often don't like this approach, they prefer to be called Mr this/ Mrs that. The staff will do their utmost to help out. There is sky sports in the room as well as free-view, which is great for the sports fans amongst us. Gets busy when there are footie games on, as the non locals travel to watch the games.

Second stay in a few months and I remain impressed as to what you get for your money.

The suites are furnished, equipped and maintained at a high standard. The one bed suites are a home from home - but looking at the studio rooms these look perfect for one or a short stay. I was a little uncertain over what it would be like to stay at the weekend - but need not - a quick request arranged for the room to be serviced each day - this was done without issue, and to the high midweek standard.

Breakfast was busier than during week, but ok. And despite there being a football match, Echo event, and a city that seemed full of stags and hens, a good night sleep had every night.

Only niggle was car park - it appears that more spaces have been allocated to the adjacent restaurant and every space taken - most incredibly tight to get in and out of. But very convenient.

Well managed, staff are spot on personable and professional, rooms excellent and good value for great product. Difficult to fault.

Stayed here over bank holiday weekend. Arrived early but was able to park in their car park for £10.00 which I thought reasonable. Checked in at 3pm and room was clean although our view was looking out to car park. Room 311. Location was brilliant for albert dock and shopping and eating at liverpool one. Breakfastwas great and plentiful. Would stay again.

Stayed for 2 nights for a weekend away with friends. Rooms are very well presented and with all amenities. Safe location too and within 2 mins of Albert Dock and the restaurants there. A few observations - minor details but worthy of note. The Receptionists were a bit brusque - it may be the scouse charm but they could do with being a little more friendly. Secondly they dont service the rooms daily - apparently this is usual for what is called 'long stay hotels' - but I have never come across it before. Having said this I asked for fresh towels and got them.

I LOVE this hotel.

Two nights of bliss here for a conference at the Arena which is dead opposite. It's a slight pain that the parking is very limited but I soon got over myself when I saw my room. Loads of space, a nice big bed with loads of chunky pillows, a TV that didn't take a degree in astrophysics to turn on, a kitchen thingy (should you need it), all most excellent.

The free alcohol and snacks sessions from 6.30 pm were a nice extra. Obviously I took full advantage. I'm not sure if these happen every night but certainly did on my 2 nights. The staff were about as friendly and helpful as you could possibly be. There's really very little to fault at this place.

It's like someone has sat down and thought, 'What can we do to turn a mediocre stay at a hotel in a run-of-the-mill European 3/4 star hotel into a really rather nice experience?'. Because at the end of the day, this hotel is very similar to a lot of others I've stayed in i.e. you get there, check in, get in a lift, swipe your keycard, go into a room which has a bed, a bathroom, a TV, etc.

But for some reason this place isn't just run-of-the-mill. Maybe it's just that nothing looked tired and in need of replacing. Maybe it's the staff who told me 'Yes of course you can take your glass of wine up to your room, treat this as your home'. I don't know especially and frankly it doesn't really matter. Suffice it to say that the Staybridge will be the only place I look to book if I find myself back in Liverpool.

N.b. I'd only give 5 stars to the sorts of hotels which charge upwards of £300 a night. Other than these, this place would be at the top of my 4 star list.
