I booked to stay on 28/29 July. I was running the marathon on the Sunday morning. I was pleasantly surprised by the room. Lots of space and clean. Although there is no reception in the basement, there is wifi available.
Pros: Large rooms, surfaces and floors clean, tea & coffee making facilities, close to The Albert dock and Centre of Liverpool, lots of close by bars & places to eat, friendly helpful staff, strong wifi
Cons: Bedding was not fresh and clean but did get changes as soon as I mentioned it. Very old mattress with lumps, bumps and springs coming out, TV only has radio channels available, aircon is to cold and no method to turn it off, emergency lighting by the door was to bright at night when trying to sleep, main lighting in the room was very dim, no plug sockets beside the beds, no where close to get breakfast before 10am on a weekend or bank holiday.
Although I have listed a few negatives this is just to let people know what to expect. I would definitely stay here again and for £150 for the whole weekend while the marathon was on, it was a bargain

What a fabulous apartment at a fantastic price. 20 minutes walk to Albert Dock. Lovely friendly reception staff and check in with no problems, although we did need some photo ID - may be helpful if this is mentioned in the booking info, luckily my partner had some. Apartment was lovely and clean and at a fraction of the cost to what friends had paid. The apartments are in a separate building accessed by an electronic gate. The area around it was nice, bar/restaurant on the corner and another over the road. We parked in a car park 5mins away which was £4 for the day. Would definitely return.

Thank you for your lovely review and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay! We do advertised ID requirements on every site we advertise with, although some do display this clearer than others.
We hope to see you again soon!
Kind regards

Booking was cancelled without any explanation. Non-refundable train tickets already purchased and there are no longer any affordable options left in Liverpool. Absolute joke! Thanks very much for the kind consideration Cocoon...

We stayed at Cocoon during a recent weekend in Liverpool. It's a brilliantly-located hotel within 15-20 minutes walk of Lime Street Station, the Docks and the Cavern Quarter, and the area close to the hotel was crammed full of bars and restaurants. Though our bedroom was in the basement it was comfortable and clean and the lack of windows really wasn't an issue. We couldn't get a phone signal but the wifi worked in the room which made up for that.

There were only a couple of issues. Our door lock seemed not to work at times and we needed a few attempts to lock and unlock our door. The reception staff came and changed the batteries but it didn't help, though it may have been we needed to push or pull the door slightly first as it seemed to work OK the last time we went in.

The other problem was the air-conditioning ceiling blower in our room which couldn't be turned off and made the room a bit chilly. There was a heater to counteract that but using it felt a bit energy-wasting. There was also a blue light in the room which meant it wasn't pitch dark but that didn't stop us sleeping.

The staff were friendly and helpful and we'd probably stay here again, though sorting out the air-con would definitely be a bonus.

If you are planning a visit to Liverpool, I highly recommend this small, well run hotel. It is not a fancy place, but it is perfect if you can't or do not want to have your hotel room eat up all of your travel budget. The management is top notch and the staff friendly and helpful. The location is ideal- the building is tucked between several major thoroughfares and a short walk in any direction brings you to places to dine and shop, theaters, and historic sights. I stayed for 6 nights recently and hope to return next year. My room was perfect - lots of coffee and tea, great television and the rain-head shower invigorating! Yes , you do have to trot up stairs to check on the weather, but I thought that was fun! And if you need extra coffee or towels, just ask!
Do give the International Inn Cocoon Pod a try if you will be in Liverpool, it is really nice!
