“Full of Chinese customers - gotta be a good sign”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

Masterchef Australia has a lot to answer for. Last series they were raving about Dim Sum - pork buns in particular so when we visited this restaurant on Good Friday I had to give them a go. They were delicious, as was the aubergine dish. I went through a phase at University of trying to find a way to cook aubergine that didn't involve copious amount of oil. Never found one. PM if you have a recipe. This one was, spicy, chilli, sweet gorgeousness. And full of oil.

The G/f had sweet and sour chicken, which in some restaurants is like eating KFC dunked in Tizer. Not here. It was chickeny, crunchy with more emphasis on the sour than the sweet. We were in and out in under an hour, without feeling rushed. The place was packed with Chinese which my mum told me was always a good sign. I think that she was right. Definitely worth a return visit.

“Nice meal”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Had dinner here on a Tuesday night, we went early as we were going to a gig. The service was ok, it was half full but not to busy.Food was lovely I had sweet & sour chicken & my hubby had crispy beef with chilli & garlic, boiled rice & prawn crackers, the portions were huge so we didn't manage to eat everything but it was nice food. bill came to £30 with 2 large cokes.

“First time visit”
Reviewed April 21, 2013 via mobile

Our first visit invited by a Chineese friend who eats here regulaly . Had some very nice dim sum as thecstarter followed by the old faithfull crispy duck both very nice.
This was followed by a medley of main courses pork duck beef and sea food all tasting very nice. Was served with a sea food dish with a Portuguese sauce which was exellent but can't remember what it was called. All this washed down with copious amounts if china tea. Very enjoyable and if I lived in the area would definitely visit again.

“Mei Mei :Losing its touch”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

I've been going to this chinese for donkeys years with various groups of people. My last few vIsits have convinced me they've got complacent. Both food and service are now just mediocre when once both were excellent. On a mid week visit recently with two friends and despite the restaurant being quiet , we had very poor service. For instance they delivered one starter thn e disappeared. Five minutes later came the secind one. Thben 5 minutes after this we had to ask for the third starter which had obviously been left on a counter as it was cold.

“Go for the Sea bass cooked perfectly”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Went for the banquet as there was a large group so experienced numerous options
i would avoid the the deep fried items as these proved filling
the prawn in tofu is one to be avoided slightly nautious
on the other hand the chiken satay is perfect

as main dishes go the sea bass was cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth
overall good experience and the meal was pleasant

go for the offers that are on to get VFM
