We met up with friends in Lincoln earlier this week, unlike them we are not locals so left the lunch venue up to them, they chose Pomodoro which they had been to before, good choice.
Luckily it wasnt busy, the staff were friendly and attentive, a good choice on the menu and a bargain 2 courses for £6.95. We all had different starters but different main courses, all of us were pleased with our choices and it was plentiful and very good.
When revisiting Lincoln will definately be heading back to Pomodoro e Basilico.

Tables very close together.
Poor wine list.
Slow service.
Awful food, followed by very upset stomachs later on.
A truly awful dining experience.

We were encouraged in by the lunch flyer offering two courses for £6.95 bargain!
On entering we were given a table for two in the middle of the restaurant and were packed in like sardines. There was barely room for our coats and shopping and a tiny gap between our table and the one at the side and behind so private conversation was impossible. The lack of space meant that I had to move my drink away from the side where staff were walking up and down in fear of them knocking in over. I would happily pay slightly more for my food if they removed several tables so you can breathe!
The saving grace was the food - excellent couldn't fault it.

We visited Pomodoro E Basilico on the second night of our first ever visit to Lincoln and were very impressed. Having gone down to the nearby waterfront and seen that all of the usual suspects - Prezzo, Ask, Zizzi - had rather too many children's parties / pre-cinema rowdy groups in situ, we decided to go back into town and give this place a try. We liked the calm, contemporary surroundings, the good amount of space between the tables and the unfussy feel generally. The Bruschetta and Mozzarella starters were nicely presented and tasty, the mains (Pasta Carbonara and Parma Ham, Mint & Pea Risotto) were just right and the desserts (Lemon Posset and Chocolate Icecream) were both lovely. We drank a good quality Pinot Grigio and the mineral water was well chilled. Service was excellent throughout and we were pleased to find such welcoming people in all the places we visited in Lincoln. We look forward to returning soon.
