lincoln castle is steeped in history visit the dungeons ,climb the tower for views across the city and countryside.the prison chapel is unique and with the renovated prison provides an atmospheric insight into prison life. Unfortunately the castle is undergoing a major refurb and 50% of it is cordened off to visitors. You can therefore only walk 1/2 the walls and to be honest apart from the Magna Carter there does not appear much else to see anyway. Think the entrance fee of £6 should be reduced at this time or at least tell people of the refurb before the cough up their money and give them the option of not going in. We had already paid before we were given a printed map showing us the cordened off areas.

We visited during halfterm Feb 2013.I was abit worried about visiting after reading other reviews but it was fine when we got there. Yes there is renovation work going on, but you were well informed about the bit that was cordened off before you paid entry. Entry wasnt much at all. Compared to the rip off charges of places like Windsor it was tiny. There is an excellent cafe, with very reasonable prices. The staff were extremely friendly and knew their subject well. There are lots of seats, ramp access, level walking and very pretty grounds. The Magna Carta display was really interesting, but the guide did say that the next phase of work may involve stopping access for a while, so it would probably be best to ring and check if you are going in the next few weeks. There is no disabled access to alot of the prison chapel, but I had no trouble with the rest (walking with a stick).
