We booked for 3 of us to have the 'festive menu' at Christmas, and to our surprise we were asked to pay a deposit and to order our food ahead, which we did. The menu was quite limited, but that is to be expected. The food, however was extremely disappointing. I had ordered pate which came with 2 tiny slices of toasted 'brioche', and what was billed as 'roasted apple', but which was more like just 2 small slices of stale apple. There was no butter to put on my bread. 2 of us had ordered the turkey, which was described on the menu as 'hand-carved', but in reality each of us had 2 identical slices of very dry turkey. It was served with a very dry Yorkshire pudding, and the vegetables were hugely overcooked.
The meal in general had a very institutional feel to it, and was not a pleasant experience.
The atmosphere in the place was ok, and we might give it another try when we are ordering off the main menu.
