Great atmosphere and quirky shopping area. This old part of Lincoln takes you back to pre motorised transport times and is a must when in the area.

Old and historical part of Lincoln joining down town and uphill. It is lined with a variety of little independent shops selling amongst other things books, pictures, jewellery and fashion items. There's also several little cafes and tea shops and a lovely restaurant in the old Jews House. Its perfect if you like to browse and it also provides some stunning views over the city as you near the top. Access may be a little more difficult for those with mobility issues, especially as the centre section is cobble stones. There are 3 sections and the middle one is the steepest. Reach the top and it will bring you into Castle Square.

You could easily spend a whole day here browsing in all the little individual shops. So many cafe and places to eat there are too many to mention. There is an amazing tea/coffee shop called Imperial Teas of Lincoln that has every kind of tea or coffee you have ever seen. The owner has great knowledge so you can ask him advice. I found some famous Vietnamese coffee there. They do a mail order service too. Don't miss the Cheese Society near the bottom of Steep Hill, I managed to find some Norwegian cheese in there I had been looking for without paying a silly amount on postage via the internet. I think you would find any cheese you wanted and if not I am sure they would get it for you. The staff are very helpful and there is a lovely free monthly magazine you can take that has some nice recipes in.

Steep Hill is as by definition, a part of the old city contained within its ancient walls, interest old shops especially the restaurant in the old jew's house, it is restricting for those with walking problems, not sure what can be done to help
