“Walk on Roman Roads”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Not for the faint hearted it is as it says "steep." The cobble stones are a piece of Lincolns Roman History. There are a variety of differing shop, resturants and cafes to suit most tastes. Shops to browse in. A good walk, but worth the effort. For those with walking problems there's parking by the castle/cathedral and a short walk down to try some of the shops.

“Lives up to its name”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

VERY steep - be warned.
Worth the climb for the nice little shops and cafes on the way up and cathedral and castle along with more shops and cafes at the top.

“Lives up to its Name!”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

Lives up to its name, extremely steep and cobbled so not good in wet weather, stilettos or for the unfit, elderly, disabled or those pushing prams! There are handrails to help you on your way and many interesting independent shops to browse in and break the climb. Coming down the hill is also quite hard work on the legs and balance!

However this is a must do as the street and buildings are full of character, shops range from tea and wine merchants to gift shops, old fashioned sweets, antiques and galleries, tea shops and pubs, such a refreshing change from the usual high street shops.

Once at the top you are in the cathedral quarter with a cobbled square with castle one way and cathedral the other, all worth a look as are the surrounding streets with more independent shops worth browsing in.

There is a bus up from the main town for those unable to walk but you will miss out onpart of Lincoln's gem of a district

“Lovely stiff walk”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Be fit! A lovely hill to walk up and view the history, and the shops there make a nice break from the climb - and they are nice shops.

“Hard work”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

If you walk down it is ok, going up is hard work. The reward is that you can have a drink at the bottom and a rewad one at the top
