We found this pub when we were out walking with our daughter. She suddenly suffered a hypoglycaemic attack and needed to eat... like immediately! Happened upon The Bell and on entering found the restaurant had just shut. However, Paul overheard, took pity on my daughter, opened the kitchens and cooked us an absolutely superb lunch while my daughter nibbled on a selection of rather lovely bar snacks!

We returned again for another excellent lunch and happened to mention to Paul that we had discovered a great gin from Wales and recommended he try it.

Tonight, we went back for a celebratory meal for my birthday. We were pleasantly surprised to see our recommended gin, Brecon Gin, behind the bar! Good start to the night!

We then had one of the best meals of my life! Beautiful crab pate, followed by the most delicious Partridge breasts. We all had different puddings and I can't tell you which was the best out of bread and butter, lemon posset and creme brulee!

I fully recommend The Bell. A warm, welcoming friendly place that serves truly irresistible and delicious food!

Visited The Bell at Coleby and was impressed with the food, the atmosphere and the staff.
The restaurant was packed and although we didn't book, the front of house Gabriella bent over backwards to juggle space for us. We had a half hour wait for a table but the champagne at the bar and a great chat with the owner Paul Vidic, made time fly and we were just pleased to have been accommodated. We both had soufflé: divine! Not tasted one better. The partridge dish was superb, very gamely but beautifully cooked. The fish dish was awesome. Bread and butter pudding and sorbet selection left us very happy and satisfied. We will go again because we are foodies and it isn't easy to find food as good as this in lincolnshire. We will also go again because the staff were so lovely, even though one of them was new and in training, it didn't take away anything from the night. The owner Paul Vidic has done a great job. We used to eat his food back in the day when he made the wig and mitre the place to go - which since he left has never had the same appeal or food quality. We also want to go again precisely because this place is truly a place for grown ups.
We have children and eat out with them a lot, but the bell is somewhere that we can relax, have adult time and spend quality time with each other. So we say hurray for not having to step around high chairs and baby bags full of parenting paraphernalia.!
As for waiting for the bill, we waited ten minutes but we chatted and as its not McDonald's, we were not booked and it was packed, not a problem.

Booked well in advance for Sunday lunch and service on arrival very good. As usual the menu was excellent - the smoked salmon and prawns did not disappoint. Other guests with me ordered the partridge and the skate Goujons - both said they were excellent starters. Followed by Turkey lamb and the beef. I found the lamb very tasty. Compliments to Paul on his cauliflower cheese. Those of us that had desert thoroughly enjoyed all tne dishes. I had the sticky toffee pudding and it was heavenly. Just a couple of negatives on this visit perhaps due to being busy or inexperienced staff - despite ordering a large scotch without ice it took 3 goes to get it right and coffee arrived before dessert. Also when trying to get the bill we could not attract anyone's attention to begin with. These were minor points however and did not detract from the enjoyment of the meal so we will definitely continue to return.

Four of us were booked into the Bell for a nice sat out meal, would we go again I don't think s. What went wrong? Not a lot really but was spoiled by the long haired blond lady who appeared to care more about the locals than us. We were taken to our table by a very polite waiter he helped us choose our meal and indeed the food was well presented and have good flavour so we had a good meal we then went to pay and this very sour lady arrived almost snatched the bill and payment card. I went to give her a £20 tip and it was almost snatched away as well. She was not one of the waiting staff who were very pleasant but I guess the manager as she was hanging around the bar area and tables. A great shame, it did not spoil the night for us but her attitude could offend many people but still we won't be seeing her again as we won't be returning. There are many other places around in lincolnshire as good and in many cases much better.

But it was a shame as the setting, beer and food are excellent.
